Seizures as a presenting feature of unruptured cerebral aneurysm are unusual. We report two cases of unruptured cerebral aneurysm presented with seizures. In both cases the seizures controlled following surgical ablation of the aneurysm.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) due to aneurysmal rupture is a major cause of cerebrovascular disease-related death. This problem could be eliminated by diagnosis and successful treatment of aneurysms before rupture. Recent developments in high-resolution imaging technology have made screening for unruptured aneurysms possible in the general population. Such screening has b...
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To evaluate whether increased neuroimaging use is associated with increased brain arteriovenous malformation (BAVM) detection, we examined detection rates in the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program of northern California between 1995 and 2004. METHODS We reviewed medical records, radiology reports, and administrative databases to identify BAVMs, intracranial aneurysm...
endometriosis is an estrogen dependent disease. levels of cancer antigen-125 are significantly higher in women with moderate to severe endometriosis. however, patients with unruptured endometriosis rarely have serum ca-125 levels more than 1000 u/ml. this case report presents a diffuse, unruptured ovarian endometrioma in a 29- year-old woman, leading to an extraordinary high serum ca-125 and ca...
Abstract Background and Importance. Unruptured supraclinoid aneurysms can be treated by surgery or endovascular therapy, but, when individualizing each patient, the associated comorbidities must considered to select best approach, follow-up control studies treatment. Clinical Presentation: Sudden oppressive headache in frontal-orbital right retroocular region. Conclusion: Given demonstration of...
Endovascular coiling has become the primary treatment modality for the treatment of intracranial ruptured aneurysms in many centers. A multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT), ISAT study, has demonstrated that endovascular coiling of ruptured intracranial aneurysms has benefits over surgical clipping in those patients suitable for either treatment. Because RCT comparing conservative manag...
A 66-year-old man presented with exertional dyspnea. He was found to have an unruptured aneurysm of the right sinus of Valsalva causing significant right ventricular outflow obstruction. This aneurysm was diagnosed by transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography, transthoracic three-dimensional echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, contrast echocardiography and 64-slice multidet...
OBJECT In this retrospective study the authors examined the aspect ratio (AR; the maximum dimension of the dome/width of the neck of an aneurysm) and compared the distribution of this ratio in a group of ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. A similar comparison was performed in relation to the maximum dimension of the aneurysm alone. The authors sought to evaluate the utility of these measures fo...
Delayed rupture of a previously unruptured cerebral aneurysm after uneventful saccular coil packing is rare, particularly when the quality of aneurysm occlusion is appropriate (neck remnant or total occlusion). The present report describes the case of a 70-year-old woman with an incidentally detected, asymptomatic, small basilar tip non-thrombosed aneurysm who experienced rupture of the aneurys...
