For a non-negative integer k, we say that a language L is k-poly-slender if the number of words of length n in L is of order O(n k). We give a precise characterization of the k-poly-slender context-free languages. The well-known characterization of the k-poly-slender regular languages is an immediate consequence of ours.

Theoretical analyses are presented for the stability of symmetric and asymmetric vortex pairs over slender conical wings and bodies under small perturbations in an inviscid incompressible flow at high angles of attack and sideslip. The three-dimensional problem of a pair of vortices over slender conical wings and bodies is reduced to a problem in two dimensions by using the conical flow assumpt...

background: a known species lutztrema (lutziella) microacetabularae rhode, 1966 is being described for the first time from pakistan. this species is characterized by having body long and slender, oral sucker subterminal, acetabulum smaller than oral sucker lying in anterior third of the body, pharynx small, esophagus promi-nent which become gradually wider and bifurcates in to two rudimentary c...

The morphology of retinal photoreceptor layer was studied in continuous light-exposed and dark-adapteddomestic male cats (Felis catus). The eyes of 12 healthy adult cats (4 in continuous light-exposed group, 4 in continuous dark-adapted group, and 4 in control group) were routinely fixed and studied by electron microscope. Results showed that the general structure of photoreceptor layer in this...

Many microorganisms, including spermatozoa and forms of bacteria, oscillate or twist a hair-like flagella to swim. At this small scale, where locomotion is challenged by large viscous drag, organisms must generate time-irreversible deformations of their flagella to produce thrust. To date, there is no demonstration of a self propelled, synthetic flagellar swimmer operating at low Reynolds numbe...

A 5-year-old National Show horse mare presented with a soft mass on the left dorsolateral aspect of the tongue. Over the next 2 years, the mare developed numerous, similar, coalescing masses that extended along the left dorsolateral aspect to the tip of the tongue. Microscopically, the bases for these masses were slender, fusiform, mesenchymal cells that formed compact whorls around myelinated ...

In ? ed d e cretinism and achondroplasia, the body 18 undersized u to a shortening of the long bones, but these shortened long bones are slender and fairly well formed and show none of the irregularities in growth which characterise the long bones of cretins and achondroplasics. Although mongolism, sporadic cretinism, achondroplasia and rachitis are so markedly ...

Trypanosoma congolense forest-type was identified by PCR in France, in a dog returning from Senegal. This paper describes the morphological features of the parasite on Giemsa-stained smears. Slender forms and "latent bodies" represent 30.4% and 20.4%, respectively. Some rosettes have been observed (0.8%). The predominant form (48.4%) is stumpy, close to "montgomeryi-form", but it is unusually b...
