in this paper, the interaction between an oscillating dipole moment and a silver nanoparticle has been studied. our calculations are based on mie scattering theory and discrete dipole approximation(dda) method.at first, the resonance frequency due to excitingthe localized surface plasmons has been obtained using mie scattering theory and then by exciting a dipole moment in theclose proximity of...

This paper is concerned with an investigation into the localized instability of a thin elastic orthotropic semi-infinite plate. In this study, a semi-infinite plate, simply supported on two edges and under different boundary conditions of clamped, hinged, sliding contact and free on the other edge, is studied. A mathematical model is used and a general solution is presented. The conditions unde...

amyloidosis includes a wide range of disorders characterized by deposition of amyloid in different organs and tissues. localized gingival enlargement due to accumulation of amyloid without involvement of other organs is a very rare condition. this article describes a 31-year-old male patient with amyloidosis involving only the periodontium of the anterior mandibular teeth with localized severe ...

The Elko spinor field is a spin 1/2 fermionic quantum field with a mass dimension introduced as a candidate of dark matter. In this work, we study the localization of Elko fields on a de Sitter thick brane constructed by a canonical or phantom scalar field. By presenting the mass-independent potentials of Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, it is shown that the E...

Tattoo removal from the forearm often requires excision and split skin grafting. The authors propose the use of a bloodless field to facilitate accurate dermal peeling, to ensure complete removal of the pigment, and to reduce operative time.

Let f : X 99K X be a dominant meromorphic self-map, where X is a compact, connected complex manifold of dimension n > 1. Suppose there is an embedded copy of P that is invariant under f , with f holomorphic and transversally superattracting with degree a in some neighborhood. Suppose f restricted to this line is given by z 7→ z, with resulting invariant circle S. We prove that if a ≥ b, then th...

PCI is a simple technique and, with the right tool, can thoroughly puncture any skin easily and quickly. Although a single treatment may not give the smoothing that is seen with laser resurfacing, the epidermis remains virtually normal. When the result is not sufficient, treatment can be repeated. The technique can be used on areas that are not suitable for peeling or laser resurfacing.

In this note, we consider a SK-type model on Zd for d ≥ 1, weighted by a function allowing to any single spin to interact with a small proportion of the other ones. Both mean field and diluted cases are considered, and we compute the replica symmetric solution at high temperature in those two cases. We are also able to study the influence of some boundary conditions on the replica symmetric sol...

Edge-localized modes (ELMs) are cyclic disturbances in the outer region of tokamak plasmas that are influential in determining present and future tokamak performance. In this Letter, we outline an approach to modeling ELMs in which we envisage toroidal peeling modes initiating a Taylor relaxation [Phys. Rev. Lett. 33, 1139 (1974)10.1103/PhysRevLett.33.1139] of a tokamak outer region plasma. Rel...
