Background and Aims: Six sigma is the latest version of total quality management. It is quantitative goal for process performance. With increasing demands for improved accuracy and reliability of the results, Six Sigma is gaining increased visibility in the clinical laboratory process outcomes. The aim of study was to evaluate the quality of analytical phase performance in a clinical biochemist...

background: jaw bone quality plays an essential role in treatment planning and prognosis of dental implants. regarding several available methods for bone density measurements, they are not routinely used before implant surgery due to hard accessibility. objective: an in vitro investigation of correlation between average gray scale in direct digital radiographs and hounsfield units in ct-scan pr...

Abstract We show that there exist uncountably many (tall and nontall) pairwise nonisomorphic density-like ideals on $\omega $ which are not generalized density ideals. In addition, they nonpathological. This answers a question posed by Borodulin-Nadzieja et al. in [this Journal , vol. 80 (2015), pp. 1268–1289]. Lastly, we provide sufficient conditions for ideal to be necessarily ideal.

We present and study a family of metrics on the space of compact subsets of R (that we call “shapes”). These metrics are “geometric”, that is, they are independent of rotation and translation; and these metrics enjoy many interesting properties, as, for example, the existence of minimal geodesics. We view our space of shapes as a subset of Banach (or Hilbert) manifolds: so we can define a “tang...

Paleobiological inferences on general cognitive abilities (intelligence) in fossil hominoids strongly rely on relative brain size or encephalization, computed by means of allometric residuals, quotients or constants. This has been criticized on the basis that it presumably fails to reflect the higher intelligence of great apes, and absolute brain size has been favored instead. Many problems of ...

PURPOSE To evaluate how metrics used to describe the cone mosaic change in response to simulated photoreceptor undersampling (i.e., cell loss or misidentification). METHODS Using an adaptive optics ophthalmoscope, we acquired images of the cone mosaic from the center of fixation to 10° along the temporal, superior, inferior, and nasal meridians in 20 healthy subjects. Regions of interest (n =...

The behavior of several landscape pattern metrics were tested against various pattern scenarios generated by neutral landscape models, including number of classes, scale-map extent, scale-resolution, class proportion, aggregation level—RULE, and aggregation level—SimMap. The results demonstrate that most of the metrics are sensitive to certain pattern scenarios, yet are not sensitive to others;...
