We demonstrate the first Tm-doped yttria planar waveguide laser to our knowledge, grown by pulsed laser deposition. A maximum output power of 35 mW at 1.95 μm with 9% slope efficiency was achieved from a 12 μm-thick film grown on a Y(3)Al(5)O(12) substrate.

The results of a comparative study of CuBr-laser energy characteristics with a small active volume operating in pulse-periodic mode and dual pump pulses are presented. The advantages of these regimes in the range 5-100 Hz and 5100 kHz for output power, the energy generation and efficiency of the laser are shown.

We report on an ultralow-threshold Raman laser based on a CaF2 whispering-gallery-mode resonator. The laser is demonstrated to have a conversion efficiency above 60%.
