Hematologic and Clinical Aspects of Experimental Ovine Anaplasmosis Caused by Anaplasma ovis in Iran
BACKGROUND Anaplasma ovis infections can cause clinical symptoms in acute phase and lead to huge economic losses in flocks. The aim of the present study was to investigate the hematological and parasitological changes in experimental anaplasmosis in sheep with Iranian strain of A. ovis. METHOD Five male sheep without any blood parasite infection were selected. One hundred ml heparinized blood...
ABSTRACT: Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies are neurodegenerative diseases that affect several mammalian species. Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is among the mentioned diseases in cattle caused by abnormally fold prion proteins. Polymorphisms of the prion protein gene (PRNP) have been shown to be major determinations for the susceptibility to transmitted perion diseases in human...
fertility rate is an economically important trait in sheep, which is influenced by genetic and environment. so far, three genes have been identified that affects this trait, one of them would be the bmp family, the most famous one is bmp15. different mutations in the bmp15 gene, increases reproductive performance and growth rate in sheep. the aim of this study was to investigate the genetic and...
The activity and efficacy of Iranian synthesized imidocarb dipropionate (imidorazi) has been tested against Babesia ovis infection in experimentally and naturally affected sheep. The results indicated that the drug is effective and could be used for treatment of sheep and goats babesiosis. The effectiveness of imidorazi is also similar to the imizol (imidocarb dipropionate) imported from abroad.
The Booroola fecundity gene (FecB) and growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) gene belong to the transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) superfamily. The mutations of these genes have additive effects on the prolificacy in sheep. The aim of the present study was to determine the possible mutations of FecB and FecG(H) genes in Lory sheep breed of the Lorestan province, Iran. Sixty blood samples wer...
Ewe productivity is a composite and maternal trait that considered the most important economic in sheep meat production. The objective of this study was application alternative genome-wide association (GWAS) approaches followed by gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) on ewes’ genome to identify genes affecting pregnancy outcomes lamb growth after parturition Iranian Baluchi sheep. Three traits a...
