Tune-out wavelengths measured with an atom interferometer are sensitive to laboratory rotation rates because of the Sagnac effect, vector polarizability, and dispersion compensation. We observed shifts in measured tune-out wavelengths as large as 213 pm with a potassium atom beam interferometer, and we explore how these shifts can be used for an atom interferometer gyroscope.

We introduce and demonstrate experimentally a single-channel long-distance interferometer that utilizes frequency division of two optical waves by using acousto-optic devices at the transmitting and receiving nodes of the interferometer. This novel single-channel long-distance interferometer provides unity visibility of the interference and therefore is useful not only for remote sensing and op...

We theoretically model the transmission of ultra-short optical pulses by FabryPerot interferometer, taking into account multiple waves re-reflection inside interferometer by examination of two superimposed waves. Based on the analytical and numerical analysis, we calculate the transformations of the optical electric field profiles and optical spectra of the pulses at the output of the interfero...

For the design and commissioning of the LIGO interferometer, simulation tools have been used explicitly and implicitly. The requirement of the advanced LIGO interferometer is much more demanding than the first generation interferometer. Development of revised simulation tools for future interferometers are underway in the LIGO Laboratory. The outline of those simulation tools and applications a...

We present a delay-line polarization Sagnac (1) interferometer that utilizes the increased laser power which will likely be available to future advanced detectors (2) to greatly simplify many laser and interferometer control requirement. We describe how the signal sidebands and the local oscillator are made common path by using a polarizing beamsplitter and controlling the circulating light's p...

Optoelectronic hybrid bistability and multistability in an active interferometer using a laser diode are demonstrated experimentally. The active laser-diode interferometer is composed of a Twyman-Green interferometer with an electronic feedback circuit. By feeding back the interferometer output together with an external light input through a detector to control thelaser-diode injection current,...

There is a fundamental dimensional mismatch between the Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) interferometer and two-photon (2P) states: while the latter are represented using two temporal (or spectral) dimensions, the HOM interferometer allows access to only one temporal dimension. We introduce a linear 2P interferometer containing two independent delays spanning the 2P state. By “unlocking” the fixed phase re...

We experimentally demonstrate optical Mach-Zehnder interferometer utilizing displaced Sagnac configuration to enhance its phase stability. The interferometer with footprint of 27×40 cm offers individually accessible paths and shows phase deviation less than 0.4° during a 250 s long measurement. The phase drift, evaluated by means of Allan deviation, stays below 3° or 7 nm for 1.5 h without any ...
