Microstructural evolution of spinel Zn(2)SnO(4) nanofibers was manipulated via an in situ phase separation process of inorganic precursors and a matrix polymer during electrospinning and calcination. Chemiresistive gas sensors using porous Zn(2)SnO(4) fibers exhibited superior C(2)H(5)OH sensing response.

By using Triton X-114 as structure-director and weak binding stabilizer, ultrathin Au, Pd and Pt nanowires are synthesized in seconds by reduction of inorganic metal precursors with KBH(4) in aqueous phase. The nanowires show high catalytic activity and long-term stability toward electrooxidation of alcohols.

We report a novel and versatile approach for fabricating ordered nanoring arrays of metals, metal oxides, and other inorganic materials with diameter of sub-50 nm by loading the salt precursors in P4VP cores of PS-b-P4VP thin film and exposing these to methanol vapor which results in the P4VP blocks shrinking to form nanorings.
