A new class of organic-inorganic hybrid aerogels having small pores and narrow pore size distribution are synthesized from well-dispersed clay platelets in water as base catalyst. Clay-catalyzed organic gels have strong advantage in controlling nanopore structure as well as reducing drying shrinkage by reinforcing the organic network with inorganic platelets.
Inorganic/organic hybrid solar cells have attracted a lot of interest due to their potential in combining the advantages of both components. To understand the key issues in association with photoinduced charge separation/transportation processes and to improve overall power conversion efficiency, various combinations with nanostructures of hybrid systems have been investigated. Here, we briefly...
Amino-functionalized organic-inorganic hybrid materials with a narrow distributed nanostructure of 2-4 nm in size were obtained by means of a template-free and non-aqueous procedure. Simultaneous twin polymerization of novel amino group containing twin monomers with 2,2'-spirobi[4H-1,3,2-benzodioxasiline] has been applied for this purpose. The amino groups of the organic-inorganic hybrid materi...
Boron clusters and organic molecules display manifestly different electronic, physical, chemical and geometrical characteristics. These differences highlight the complementarity of organic synthons and boron clusters, and therefore the feasibility of producing hybrid polymers incorporating both types of fragments. This review focuses on the development of hybrid organic-inorganic π conjugated, ...
The inorganic–organic hybrid micro/nanoparticles have emerged as an exciting new research area owing to their highly tailorable properties, as well as their potential applications in drug delivery, catalysis, biosensing, biomedical imaging, gas storage, spin-crossover, and optics. Unlike inorganic particles, the inorganic–organic hybrid micro/nanostructures can be easily tuned by switching the ...
Entropy is one of the fundamental quantities which links emerging research areas like flexibility and defect engineering in inorganic-organic hybrid materials. Additionally, a delicate balance between entropy and enthalpy can lead to intriguing temperature-driven transitions in such materials. Here, we briefly overview traditional material design principles, highlight the role of entropy in the...
the recognition of the biologically and environmentally important ions is of great interest in the field of chemical sensors in recent years. the fluorescent sensors as a powerful optical analytical technique for the detection of low level of various analytes such as anions and metal cations have been progressively developed due to the simplicity, cost effective, and selectivity for monitoring ...
The possibility to deposit purely organic and hybrid inorganic-organic materials in a way parallel to the state-of-the-art gas-phase deposition method of inorganic thin films, i.e., atomic layer deposition (ALD), is currently experiencing a strongly growing interest. Like ALD in case of the inorganics, the emerging molecular layer deposition (MLD) technique for organic constituents can be emplo...
Hybrid materials made of organic and inorganic molecules have been used for millions of years in nature, as well as driving the modern technology age for the past few thousand years. The nature of the interactions that occur between the organic and inorganic layers determine the final properties that the hybrid material will have and are of great importance. The interface properties, occurring ...
