An unusual case of anomalous drainage of the right lung is described. The right superior pulmonary vein drained into the superior vena cava, and the middle and lower pulmonary veins drained into the inferior vena cava. Repair was achieved by creating a pericardial baffle that drained the inferior vein and the orifice of the superior vena cava through a surgically created atrial septal defect. T...

Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) of inferior vena cava is a rare and aggressive tumor, arising from the smooth muscle cells in the vessel wall. A large complete surgical resection is the essential treatment. The need of vascular reconstruction is not always mandatory. It's above all to understand the place of the reconstruction with artificial vascular patch prosthetics of vena cave after a large resection...

Dilatation of the azygos-hemiazygos venous system presenting as paravertebral masses may be seen in intrahepatic and extrahepatic portal vein obstruction, anomalous pulmonary venous return, occlusion of the superior and inferior vena cava, persistence of the left superior vena cava, hepatic vein obstruction, elevation of central venous pressure as in congestive heart failure, pericardial effusi...

Congenital anomalies of the inferior vena cava are relatively frequent, usually with scarce clinical impact. There are few cases reported of inferior vena cava duplication. The supernumerary left-placed vena cava originates in the pelvis from a common iliac vein and receives ipsilateral lumbar and renal veins. Here we examine a new case of inferior vena cava duplication, diagnosed by CT scan. T...

We report a 29 year-old woman with bilateral deep vein thrombosis. CT-scan was performed and an agenesia of the inferior vena cava was found. We provide a brief review of the embryogenesis of the inferior vena cava, and of anomalies in the genesis of this vessel. In young patients with idiopathic deep venous thrombosis the existence of an abnormality in the inferior vena cava should be considered.

Here we report a case of 57-year-old woman with renal angiomyolipoma associated with tuberous sclerosis complex involving inferior vena cava thrombus. We could perform less invasive nephrectomy with thrombectomy because everolimus administration reduced the inferior vena cava thrombus. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report the use of everolimus before performing surgery to trea...

Congenital vascular anomalies are although rare but may cause serious complications. Vascular pathologies are best demonstrated by contrast enhanced computed tomography, with the advent of multidetector computed tomography and applying multiplanar reformation techniques. However, ultrasound color Doppler and catheter angiography are accessory imaging modalities utilized to rule out vascular ano...
