abstract: since sugar consumption is directly related to diabetes and other illnesses such as obesity, the issue that will most heavily dominate the health food market is blood sugar management and low glycemic foods. using calcium chloride and gums such as sodium alginate and low ester pectin as thikener and a high-potency sweetener aspartame we were able to reduce sugar content of sour cherry...

An efficient method for the synthesis of ester-containing indium homoenolate via a direct insertion of indium into β-halo ester in the presence of CuI/LiCl was described. The synthetic utility of the indium homoenolate was demonstrated by palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling with aryl halides in DMA with wide functional group compatibility.

In situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy along with electrochemical measurements (CV and RDE) and previously published EQCN data provide further understanding of the nature of chloride poisoning on different faces/ sites of carbon supported platinum clusters (1-2 nm) in acidic medium (HClO4). Chloride is shown to adsorb in 3-fold sites on the Pt(111) faces at the investigated Clconcentrations (10-...

We demonstrate the extraordinary transmission of terahertz THz radiation through gratings of subwavelength apertures structured in indium antimonide InSb. This transmission can be attributed to the tunneling of surface plasmons polaritons which are excited in semiconductors at THz frequencies. By thermally controlling the permittivity of the grating the transmittance increases by more than one ...

Semiconducting indium sulfide (In2S3) has recently attracted considerable attention as a buffer material in the field of thin film photovoltaics. Compared with this growing interest, however, detailed characterizations of the crystal structure of this material are rather scarce and controversial. In order to close this gap, we have carried out a reinvestigation of the crystal structure of this ...

PURPOSE Previous studies of optical interference from the whole thickness of the precorneal tear film showed much lower contrast than from the pre-contact lens tear film. It is hypothesized that the recorded low contrast is related to roughness of the corneal surface compared with the smooth contact lens surface. This hypothesis is tested, and characteristics of this roughness are studied. ME...

This paper describes the atomic layer deposition of In2(S,O)3 films by using In(acac)3 (acac = acetylacetonate), H2S and either H2O or O2 plasma as oxygen sources. First, the growth of pure In2S3 films was studied in order to better understand the influence of the oxygen pulses. X-Ray diffraction measurements, optical analysis and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were performed to character...

Indium nitride (InN) nanowire synthesis using indium (In) vapor transport in a dissociated ammonia environment (reactive vapor transport) is studied in detail to understand the nucleation and growth mechanisms involved with the so-called "self-catalysis" schemes. The results show that the nucleation of InN crystal occurs first on the substrate. Later, In droplets are formed on top of the InN cr...

The indium triiodide catalyzed single-stage cascade reaction of N-sulfonyl amides with hydrosilanes and two types of organosilicon nucleophiles such as silyl cyanide and silyl enolates selectively promoted deoxygenative functionalization to give α-cyanoamines and β-aminocarbonyl compounds, respectively.

We demonstrate a concept to study transient liquids with picosecond time-resolved x-ray scattering in a high-repetition-rate configuration. Femtosecond laser excitation of crystalline indium antimonide (InSb) induces ultrafast melting, which leads to a loss of the long-range order. The remaining local correlations of the liquid result in broad x-ray diffraction rings, which are measured as a fu...
