In this paper, an application of Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM) is applied to solve the equation governing the unsteady flow of a polytropic gas. Comparison are made between the Adomian decomposition method and homotopy analysis method. The results reveal that the homotopy analysis method is very effective and simp le and gives the exact solution. Classification 2000 MSC: 34K28 • 35G25 • 34K17

The homotopy analysis method is used to find a family of solitary smooth hump solutions of the Camassa–Holm equation. This approximate solution, which is obtained as a series of exponentials, agrees well with the known exact solution. This paper complements the work of Wu & Liao [Wu W, Liao S. Solving solitary waves with discontinuity by means of the homotopy analysis method. Chaos, Solitons & ...

We investigate the steady two-dimensional flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in a rectangular domain that is bounded by two permeable surfaces. The governing fourth-order nonlinear differential equation is solved by applying the spectral-homotopy analysis method and a novel successive linearisation method. Semianalytical results are obtained and the convergence rate of the solution series w...

Informally, a homotopy monoid is a monoid-like structure in which properties such as associativity only hold ‘up to homotopy’ in some consistent way. This short paper comprises a rigorous definition of homotopy monoid and a brief analysis of some examples. It is a much-abbreviated version of the paper ‘Homotopy Algebras for Operads’ (math.QA/0002180), and does not assume any knowledge of operads.

In this paper, a nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integral equation of the first kind is solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). In this case, the first kind integral equation can be reduced to the second kind integral equation which can be solved by HAM. The approximate solution of this equation is calculated in the form of a series which its components are computed easily. The accuracy...

in this paper, we apply the  homotopy analysis method (ham) for solving fuzzy  linear systems and present  the necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of series solution obtained via the ham. also, we present a new criterion for choosing a proper value of convergence-control parameter $hbar$ when the ham is applied to linear system of equations. comparisons are made between the ...

In recent work on the area of approximation methods for the solution of nonlinear differential equations, it has been suggested that the so-called generalized Taylor series approach is equivalent to the homotopy analysis method. In the present paper, we demonstrate that such a view is only valid in very special cases, and in general the homotopy analysis method is far more robust. In particular...

the work  addressed in this paper is a comparative study between convergence of the  acceleration techniques, diagonal pad'{e} approximants and shanks transforms, on homotopy analysis method  and adomian decomposition method for solving  differential equations of integer and fractional orders.

The steady flow of a Reiner-Rivlin fluid with Joule heating and viscous dissipation is studied. We present a novel technique for accelerating the convergence of the spectral-homotopy analysis method. Solutions of the nonlinear momentum and energy equations are obtained using the improved spectral homotopy analysis method. Solutions were also generated using the spectral-homotopy analysis method...

Spaces of maps into classifying spaces for equivariant crossed complexes, II: The general topological group case. Abstract The results of a previous paper [3] on the equivariant homotopy theory of crossed complexes are generalised from the case of a discrete group to general topological groups. The principal new ingredient necessary for this is an analysis of homotopy coherence theory for cross...
