This paper is concerned with the effect of pure shear on the reflection from a plane boundary of infinitesimal plane waves propagating in a half-space of incompressible isotropic elastic material. For a special class of constitutive laws it is shown that an incident plane harmonic wave propagating in the considered plane gives rise to a surface wave in addition to a reflected wave (with angle o...
Numerical simulations of black-hole binaries, obtained with the Lean code, are presented. The code is demonstrated to produce state-of-the-art evolutions of inspiralling and merging black holes with convergent waveforms. We further compare results from head-on collisions of Brill-Lindquist and Kerr-Schild data to study the dependency of the waveforms on the choice of initial data type. In this ...
In this work the production of vector mesons in diffractive DIS is analyzed, with an emphasis on the impact of the internal spin structure of a vector meson upon its virtual photoproduction rate. For the first time, the full sets of s-channel helicity conserving and violating amplitudes were derived for pure S and D wave vector mesons. In the course of analytical and numerical investigation, we...
We investigate the weak kaon-nucleon (NNK) S-wave and P-wave interactions using heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The leading 1-loop SU(3) breaking contributions to the ppK, pnK, and nnK couplings are computed. We nd that they suppress all NNK amplitudes by 30% to 50%. The ratio of neutron-induced to proton-induced hypernuclear decay widths is sensitive to such reductions. It has been ar...
The extended BMS algebra contains a conformal subgroup that acts on the celestial sphere as SO(3,1). It is of interest to perform mode expansions free fields in Minkowski spacetime realize this symmetry simple way. In present work we such expansion for massive scalar using unitary principal series representations SO(3,1) with view developing holographic approach gravity asymptotically flat spac...
‘Synthetic schlieren’’, which has been used to measure the amplitude of two-dimensional internal wave beams generated from an oscillating cylinder, is adapted to analyze axisymmetric internal waves generated by an oscillating sphere. This nonintrusive technique uses elementary inverse tomographic methods to measure the amplitude of the conical-structured wave beams everywhere in space and time....
Incremental photic stimuli have been used to elicit small amplitude retinal action potentials from light-adapted ocelli of the wolf spider, Lycosa baltimoriana (Keyserling) in order to see whether or not the amplitudes of these potentials are linearly related to the stimulus amplitudes. Sine wave variations of light intensity around a mean elicit sine wave variations in potential which contain ...
The existing theory for wave propagation through a soil layer are not compatible with the real soil layers because in the theory the layers are flat and the sub-layers are parallel, while in real the soil layers are not flat and they may not be parallel. Thus, wave propagations through a corrugated interface are so important. In this paper, a two-dimensional SH-wave propagation through a corrug...
Recursion relations for integrals of amplitudes over the phase space, i.e. for partial wave amplitudes, are introduced. In their simplest form these integrals are proportional to the s-wave amplitudes and represent rigorous lower bounds on the total cross sections. The connection with classical field equations in D dimensions is established. Previous results on multiparticle amplitudes are easi...
