A Gleeble thermo-mechanical simulator was used to simulate the welds of duplex stainless steel S32101. micro-precipitate chromium-nitride and its surroundings in simulated analyzed detail by SEM/AES EC-AFM. The AES analysis revealed that a chromium-depleted area is present γ phase near chromium-nitrides precipitated at α/γ grain boundary. EC-AFM observation preferentially dissolves from area.
