In this article, we propose a novel object detection algorithm named ”Deep Regionlets” by integrating deep neural networks and conventional schema for accurate generic detection. Motivated the effectiveness of regionlets modeling deformations multiple aspect ratios, incorporate into an end-to-end trainable learning framework. The framework consists region selection network regionlet module. Spe...

We prove that, in the l-ball of the Cayley graph of the braid group with n > 3 strands, the proportion of rigid pseudo-Anosov braids is bounded below independently of l by a positive value.

We investigate basic properties of the set of observer-based state-space compensators (OBCs). In particular, we are interested in how much of this set is occupied by its OBC members. We examine both classical OBCs and generalized OBCs, as developed in [D. Cobb, SIAM J. Control Optim., 50 (2012), pp. 1921–1949]. We perform our analysis for both real and complex compensators. In every case, we sh...

We give a precise definition of “generic-case complexity” and show that for a very large class of finitely generated groups the classical decision problems of group theory the word, conjugacy and membership problems all have linear-time generic-case complexity. We prove such theorems by using the theory of random walks on regular graphs.

Using a Feature-Based Lexicalised Tree Adjoining Grammar (FB-LTAG), we present an approach for generating pairs of sentences that are related by a syntactic transformation and we apply this approach to create language learning exercises. We argue that the derivation trees of an FB-LTAG provide a good level of representation for capturing syntactic transformations. We relate our approach to prev...

In this article, the author discusses the limitations of the egocentric view of self in which self serves as an automatic filter, inhibiting access to alternative representations of others' thoughts and feelings. The author then outlines a protocentric model, the self-as-distinct (SAD) model, in which generic representations of prototypic others serve as the default; representations of self, sp...

We present an ontology of objects, functions, and generic shape representation that supports form-function reasoning. By reasoning from the mechanical and other functions of objects to their geometric shape requirements, we deduce the generic shape representation of objects, which we represent as a partial boundary representation composed of primitive geometric shape elements and their spatial ...

The lack of a uni ed framework for constraint problems has resulted in a diversity of constraint solution techniques and methods for describing constraint problems. A uni ed framework would allow the construction of a kernel constraint engine, capable of solving constraint problems composed of models from di erent domains, such as engineering and geometric problems. As a rst step towards such a...
