We demonstrate the generation of 22.6 μJ of combined energy at 3 μm for sub-300fs pulses at a repetition rate of 1 kHz using a LGSe optical parametric amplifier (OPA). The LGSe OPA is pumped by the 140-fs 1.6 μm pulses from a 300-mW KTA optical parametric chirped pulse amplifier (OPCPA) based on an all-optical synchronization scheme. By using a highly-nonlinear fiber, the output of an erbium-do...

Supercontinuum generation in a highly nonlinear fiber pumped by noise-like pulses from an erbium-doped fiber ring laser is investigated. To generate ultrabroad spectra, a fiber amplifier is used to boost the power launched into the highly nonlinear fiber. After amplification, not only the average power of the noise-like pulses is enhanced but the spectrum of the pulses is also broadened due to ...

in this paper first we try to analysis the behavior ofthe soas in the optical networks and then have proposed anumerical simple model to simulate the behavior of thesemiconductor optical amplifiers. after that by employing thismodel as inline amplifier for a dwdm optical system, we havesimulated the transmission of 10 channels with bit rate 10 gb/sup to distance 3970 km with rz-dpsk modulation ...

Telecommunication networks now days require high speed and transmission capacity. Such a trend is present in Kosovo too. The overall backbone transmission technology in Kosovo is based on fiber optic. To reach this requirement it is necessary to develop and use optical networks which are based on advanced optical technologies, such as WDM/DWDM transmitting technology and different amplifiers. H...

An experimental investigation of the temperature dependence of the gain and noise performance of a silica-fiber Raman amplifier is described. A decrease in the Raman scattering cross section in a fiber amplifier cooled from a temperature of 300 K to 77 K was measured and found to be in agreement with theoretical values. No difference between the Raman gain coefficients at these two temperatures...

We demonstrate a 158 fs 5.3 nJ mode-locked laser system based on a fiber oscillator, fiber amplifier and fiber compressor. Dispersion compensation in the fiber oscillator was obtained with a solid-core photonic bandgap (SC-PBG) fiber spliced to standard fibers, and external compression is obtained with a hollow-core photonic bandgap (HC-PBG) fiber.

1. Introduction The goal of an optical fiber communication system is to transmit the maximum number of bits per second over the maximum possible distance with the fewest errors. A typical digital fiber optic link is depicted in Figure 1. Electrical data signals are converted to optical signals via a modulator. A " 1 " is transmitted as a pulse of light while a " 0 " has no light output. The num...

We successfully fabricate three-mode erbium doped fiber with a confined Er(3+) doped ring structure and experimentally characterize the amplifier performance with a view to mode-division multiplexed (MDM) transmission. The differential modal gain was effectively mitigated by controlling the relative thickness of the ring-doped layer in the active fiber and pump launch conditions. A detailed stu...

We report the design of an all-fiber continuous wave Short-Wave Infrared source capable to output up to 700 mW of power at 1940 nm. The source is tunable over wavelength intervals comprised between 1850 nm and 2070 nm depending on its configuration. The output can be single or multimode while the optical signal to noise ratio ranges from 25 and 40 dB. The architecture is based on the integrated...

This paper demonstrates a method to remove the gain ripple profile specifically for a two-segment fiber optical parametric amplifier arising from the dispersion differences between the fiber gain medium and the standard single mode fiber attached to the optical components. This is achieved by using a simple design that incorporates a gain smoothening filter at the mid-stage of the amplifier. Th...
