We compute the thermoelectric transport parameterized by the Seebeck coefficient and thermal/electric conductance of random-alloy FeCo/MgO/FeCo(001) magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) from first principles using a generalized Landauer-Büttiker formalism. The thermopower is found to be typically smaller than those of Fe/MgO/Fe(001) MTJs. The (magneto-)Seebeck effect is sensitive to the details of ...

Fe–Co bimetallic electrocatalysts show tremendous promise for both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and evolution in the alkaline medium to replace precious metal catalysts. Here, we report a successful size modulation strategy FeCo binary alloys situ growth on carbon matrix. Analogous Pt nanoparticles, could give rise increased active sites FeCo-based catalysts without altering their chemical p...

Size and geometric control of nanomaterials are important to the discovery of intrinsic size/shape dependent properties and bottom up approaches for the fabrication of functional nanodevices. Two general strategies have been employed to create size-uniform nanocrystals. One method is direct particle size control during synthesis by adjusting growth parameters; 7–9] the other is post-synthesis s...

The Cover Feature illustrates FeCo oxide nanoparticles supported on heteroatom-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes as a bifunctional catalyst for the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions. Nitrogen functionalization of allows controlling nanoparticle dispersion localization, while optimal degree nitrogen doping results in an enhancement electrical conductivity, which together boost ...

FeCo-based ferromagnetic alloys (HITPERM variants) of composition Fe44 5Co44 5Zr7B4, Fe44Co44Zr5 7B3 3Ta2Cu1, Fe44Co44Zr5 7B3 3Mo2Cu1, and Fe37 2Co30 8Zr7B4Cu1 were prepared by melt-spinning amorphous precursors, followed by nanocrystallization. Samples were characterized using vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). VSM was use...
