TOPSIS is a multiple criteria method to identify solutions from a finite set of alternatives based upon simultaneous minimization of distance from an ideal point and maximization of distance from a nadir point. TOPSIS can incorporate relative weights of criterion importance. This paper reviews several applications of TOPSIS using different weighting schemes and different distance metrics, and c...

− In this paper, we first briefly present conventional TOPSIS method developed by Hwang and Yoon[10, 19] as a multi-criteria decision making technique. We then give a group decision making method based on TOPSIS method under fuzzy soft environment, and finally give an application of proposed method to show operation and effectiveness of method.

The hierarchical TOPSIS model used in this article is able to grasp the ambiguity exists in the utilized information and the fuzziness appears in the human judgments and preferences. The use of the hierarchical fuzzy TOPSIS methodology offers a number of benefits: (1) being a systematic model and straight forward one for working on; and (2) capable of capturing human's appraisal of ambiguity wh...

Purpose: The aim of this study is applying a new method for Industrial robotic system selection. Design/methodology/approach: In this paper, the weights of each criterion are calculated using fuzzy Shannon’s Entropy. After that, fuzzy TOPSIS is utilized to rank the alternatives. After that we compare the result of Fuzzy TOPSIS with Fuzzy VIKOR method. Then we select the best Industrial Robotic ...

The aim of this paper is to extend the TOPSIS method for decisionmaking problems with Fuzzy data. By this extension of TOPSIS method, an algorithm for determining the most preferable choice among all possible choices in the case of fuzzy data is presented. To illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a decision-making problem is solved at the end of paper.

An extension of TOPSIS (technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution), a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) technique, to a group decision environment is investigated. TOPSIS is a practical and useful technique for ranking and selection of a number of externally determined alternatives through distance measures. To get a broad view of the techniques used, we provide a few...

Multiple attribute decision making is an important part of modern decision science. It has been extensively applied to various problems. There are several methods for this decision making problem. Based on TOPSIS method and Gray relational analysis method, this paper presents a combined approach to the multiattribute group decision making. Finally, an...

In a recent paper in this journal Shyur and Shih [1] propose a hybrid MCDM model for strategic vendor selection. In subsection 3.3 (Activity 2), the authors calculate the normalized decision matrix R(=[rij]). They calculate the normalized value rij as follows: rij = fij √ n ∑ j=1 f 2 ij , (1) where j = 1, . . . , n; i = 1, . . . ,m.By virtue of its TOPSIS feature, Eq. (1) is not correct. In...

In this paper we propose a fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Idea Solution) model using O(m, n)-Trapezoidal Type Fuzzy Number (O(m,n)-Tr.T.F.N.) and possibility theory. An application in the form of an example to the vendor selection problem in supply chain management is presented towards the end of the paper to highlight the salient points in the proposed possibili...

Success of an e-business company is strongly associated with the relative quality of its website compared to that of its competitors. The purpose of this study is to propose a multi-attribute e-business website quality evaluation methodology based on a modified fuzzy TOPSIS approach. In the proposed methodology, weights of the evaluation criteria are generated by a fuzzy AHP procedure. In perfo...
