An 84-year-old woman developed high intraocular pressure with a shallow anterior chamber 2 months after an extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber lens implant. Pupillary capture is a pathology commonly associated with traumatic or inflammatory processes of the eye. We present a case of idiopathic pupillary capture, 7 years after extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. This case highlights the need for ongoing patient surveillance, especially in elderly patients who are less able to detect subtle changes in their vision.

Twenty-two patients with Fuch's heterochromic cyclitis had a posterior chamber intraocular lens implanted after extracapsular cataract extraction. After a mean follow-up period of 2.5 years (range, 6 to 70 months) half the patients had a visual acuity of 1.0 or more. The results compare favourably with those in the general population.
