We demonstrated a facile and efficient approach for the fabrication of few-layer graphene in DMF and graphite nanosheets in water with the assistance of high pressure homogenization. We report a facile method for the production of graphene sheets through the liquid-phase exfoliation of graphite in organic solvents with addition of NaOH. NaOH was found to be intercalated into the interplanar spaces of graphite, and greatly improves exfoliation efficiency up to 20 times.

A new method for the preparation of graphene has been developed via porphyrin exfoliation of graphite in NMP. The exfoliation, which follows the intercalation of organic ammonium ions, is based on the pi-pi interaction between graphene and porphyrins.
