In this paper, we propose a serial equalizer for doubly-selective channels. We use a Basis Expansion Model (BEM) Finite Impulse Response (FIR) to model the doubly-selective channel and to design the serial equalizer. In contrast to our previous works, we decrease the modeling error of the BEM FIR by fitting the BEM FIR to the true doubly-selective channel over a time-window that is independent ...

We develop a Turbo equalization-based receiver for serial-tone HF waveforms, where the conventional decision feedback equalizer is replaced by a soft-in soft-out (SISO) equalizer, and the receiver iterates soft information between the equalizer and the decoder. To keep the computational burden of the iterative equalization and decoding procedure as low as possible, the SISO equalizer is designe...

A new iterative equalizer based on the classical block decision feedback equalizer is derived. The performance of this equalizer benefits from the usage of a soft decision function, which is based on noise whitening and consecutive matched filtering. The derivation of the decision function is very general and therefore applicable to arbitrary complex valued modulation symbols. After adding the ...

The effect of fading and interference effects can be combated with equalizer. This paper analyses the performance of MMSE equalizer based receiver for MIMO wireless channel .The BER characteristics for the various transmitting and receiving antenna is simulated in mat lab tool box and many advantages and disadvantages the system is described. The simulation carried out signal processing lab sho...

This paper presents a new fractionally-spaced maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalizer for data transmission over frequency-selective fading channels. The technique is applicable to any standard modulation technique. The MAP equalizer uses an expanded hypothesis trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. The fading channel is estimated by coupling minimum mean square erro...

This paper describes the design of switched-current group delay equalizers. The design process is based on the pole-zero mirroring technique; with equalizer z-transfer functions generated using an optimization algorithm. To facilitate the systematic implementation of the equalizers, a model describing the design process is developed. A novel feature of the equalizers implementation is that wave...

In this paper, we introduce a new blind fractionally spaced equalizer based on the fourth-order statistics of the input symbol sequence. The input symbol sequence is assumed to come from an independent identically distributed finite alphabet with nonzero fourth-order cumulants. We formulate the equalizer as a column vector and compute it by simultaneously diagonalizing a set of matrices obtaine...

This paper addresses the problem of equalization space-time codes with transmit diversity. We derive a symbol-by-symbol MAP equalizer/decoder for space-time coded signals over frequency selective channels. We describe a turbo equalization/decoding scheme where the results of the decoding are fed back to the equalizer. Simulation results show an improved equalizer performance due to the feedback.

In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for the MLSE equalizer for the GSM system. Speci cally, we use a parametric model for the channel, to obtain a modi ed Viterbi Equalizer which we refer to as the Parametric Channel-Viterbi Equalizer (PC-VE). In contrast to the conventional Viterbi Equalizer with a FIR channel description, the PC-VE avoids the linear approximation error and has a lower...

A new optimized blind equalization algorithm for sparse underwater acoustic channel is proposed in this paper. The decision feedback equalizer is a common nonlinear equalizer to overcome the effect of noise in underwater acoustic communication. The decision feedback equalizer algorithm tracks the underwater acoustic channel change and utilizes the feedback information to adjust equalizer. The g...
