Eight cases of the acanthosis nigricans form of epidermal nevus have been described in literature. The present case is impressive and has an extensive segmental distribution. Although etiological factors, such as mutations in the FGFR3 gene, are becoming recognized, treatment options remain limited. We present a case of a 14-year-old male with multiple hyperpigmented, hyperkeratotic plaques on ...
Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus (ILVEN) is a benign cutaneous hamartoma characterized by intensely erythematous, pruritic, and inflammatory papules that occur as linear bands along the lines of Blaschko. There is a considerable clinical and histological resemblance between ILVEN and linear psoriasis, lichen striatus, linear lichen planus, and invasion of epidermal nevus by psorias...
Becker nevus syndrome is a phenotype characterized by the fundamental presence of Becker's nevus with ipsilateral hypoplasia of the breast or other skin, skeletal and/or muscular disorders. This syndrome generally originates at birth, intensifies significantly in adolescence and is one of the syndromes that constitute epidermal nevus syndrome. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first cas...
Epidermal nevi are hamartomas that are characterized by hyperplasia of the epidermis and adnexal structures, and may be associated with serious disfiguration. Germline mutations in the FGFR3 gene have found to be the etiology of epidermal nevus. Patients often seek treatment from dermatologic surgeons but even an alert dentist can help to diagnose the lesion from its clinical appearance. Variou...
Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus is a rare variant of nevoid linear inflammatory dermatoses which appear most often in first six months of life and persists for many years or even whole life. Clinically it often shares many features with linear psoriasis, linear porokeratosis and other linear dermatoses which can usually be differentiated by an established set of clinical and histo...
Epidermal nevus syndrome (ENS) is a rare condition characterized by congenital epidermal nevi (EN) associated abnormalities of other organs including central nervous system (CNS), skeletal system, eyes, and oral cavity (1). ENS is divided into a group of distinct disorders, based on the associated epidermal nevus and genetic inheritance pattern. Organoid nevus could be seen in some ENS, includi...
Woolly hair nevus is a rare condition characterized by a structural anomaly of the hair, restricted to certain areas of the scalp. The hair becomes coiled and slightly hypopigmented. The term woolly hair refers to changes that affect all the scalp and has a hereditary character. We present a case of woolly hair nevus, that developed at the age of 2 years, associated with dental diastema and ver...
Linear psoriasis is a rare entity which is commonly confused with inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus. We report a 25-year-old man who had linear psoriasis along Blaschko lines in a unilateral distribution on the left side of the body. Our diagnosis was based on a combination of historical, clinical, histopathological evidence and response to treatment.
