BACKGROUND The local muscular endurance of knee flexors, during eccentric work in particular, is important in preventing or delaying kinematic changes associated with fatigue during treadmill running. This result, however, may not be transferable to overground running. OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that overground running is associated with eccentric hamstring fatigue. METHODS Thirteen r...

The purposes of this study were to determine the (a) magnitude of variability associated with certain eccentric variables (eccentric peak velocity, displacement, and ground contact time) during unilateral countermovement jump performance (vertical [VCMJ], horizontal [HCMJ], and lateral [LCMJ]); (b) differences between limbs as well as between jumps; and (c) relationship between jump performance...

Introduction: It is suggested that quadriceps muscle has an important role in stability & mobility of Knee joint in athletics and normal individuals therefore, the purpose of this study was evaluation of the strength in Power Athletics (PA) and Normal Un-trained Individuals (NUI) groups. Methods and Materials: 31 Females (20 NUI & 11 PA) participated in this study. For measuring the strength, e...

Context. Imaging of debris disks has found evidence for both eccentric and offset disks. One hypothesis is that these provide evidence for massive perturbers, for example planets or binary companions, that sculpt the observed structures. One such disk was recently observed in the far-IR by the Herschel Space Observatory around ζ2 Reticuli. In contrast with previously reported systems, the disk ...

Introduction: Exercise-related stress changes the amount of cytokines produced. Dietary supplements can accelerate the muscle recovery process. Q10 is one of the most effective and nutritional supplements that is prescribed to reduce the inflammatory-oxidative damage. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of Q10 supplementation and recovery in water on serum levels of IL-6 and I...

M\Ian's knowledge of the properties of interplanetary space has advanced radically since 1962, the major part of this advance occurring since the commencement of the International Years of the Quiet Sun. The IQSY has, in fact, been quite unique in that it has seen the augmentation of the extensive synoptic studies of both geophysical and solar phenomena such as were mounted during the IGY and i...

In this paper we present explicit formulas for the eccentric connectivity index of three classes of chain hexagonal cacti. Further, it is shown that the extremal chain hexagonal cacti with respect to the eccentric connectivity index belong to one of the considered types. Some open problems and possible directions of further research are mentioned in the concluding section.

Despite abundant evidence that different nervous system control strategies may exist for human concentric and eccentric muscle contractions, no data are available to indicate that the brain signal differs for eccentric versus concentric muscle actions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate electroencephalography (EEG)-derived movement-related cortical potential (MRCP) and to determine wheth...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate muscle damage indicators and electromyography activities of quadriceps muscles at 25° of hip flexion in untrained healthy females after an eccentric exercise induced muscle fiber damage. METHODS A total of 14 healthy females participated in this pre-experimental study. The subjects performed maximal eccentric quadriceps contractions at 25˚ o...
