one of the best and the most active ways for surveying thermal behaviour of materials is using differential scanning calorimetry. in this paper, the authors have studied thermal behaviour for schiff base ligand and their synthesized cobalt, nickel complexes. in this method, the sample is opposed to a controlled temperature change and its physical properties. here we studied melting point and tg...
introduction: the aim of this study was to compare several metallurgic properties of neoniti instrument with four other commonly used endodontic rotary files. methods and materials: neoniti a1 (25/0.08), race (25/0.06), mtwo (25/0.06), twisted file (25/0.06) and protaper next x2 (25/0.06) were examined by differential scanning calorimetry (dsc) before and after heat treatment at 500 ° c. x-ray ...
We have investigated the thermal stability of the Fusarium solani pisi cutinase as a function of pH, in the range from pH 2-12. Its highest enzymatic activity coincides with the pH-range at which it displays its highest thermal stability. The unfolding of the enzyme as a function of pH was investigated by microcalorimetry. The ratio between the calorimetric enthalpy (DeltaH(cal)) and the van't ...
We describe a calorimetric assay for the detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) within 5 h. Microbial heat was calculated in culture with and without cefoxitin. Among 30 genetically distinct clinical isolates, 19/20 MRSA (95%) and 10/10 methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (100%) were correctly identified. Microcalorimetry may be useful for rapid MRSA screening.
parkia biglobosa starch was subjected to different heat-moisture treatment (hmt) at different moisture contents (15, 20, 25, and 30%) at 110oc for 16 hours. the content of resistant starch (rs) was the lowest (33.38%) in the untreated native parkia and increased in the samples with hmt-15 (37.79%), hmt-30 (39.64%), hmt-25 (46.63%), and hmt-20 (50.14%), showing significant increase (p < 0.05) in...
The main calorimetric principles used in isothermal microcalorimetry are briefly discussed. Different chemical calibration and test reactions are discussed, with a focus on reactions suitable for ambient conditions: reactions initiated by mixing of liquids (including titration microcalorimetry), dissolution of solid compounds and of slightly soluble gases, a photochemical process, and thermal p...
Using an ultrafast scanning microcalorimetry apparatus capable of heating rates in excess of 10(5) Ks, we have conducted the first direct measurements of thermodynamic properties of pure and doped amorphous solid water (also referred to as low density amorphous ice) in the temperature range from 120 to 230 K. Ultrafast microcalorimetry experiments show that the heat capacity of pure amorphous s...
In cacao farms, the presence of cadmium (Cd) is a major issue for commercialization, particularly countries such as Colombia. Cadmium-tolerant bacteria (CdtB) are an important functional group microorganisms with potential bioremediation strategies. Cd immobilization activity by CdtB can be accurately measured isothermal microcalorimetry (IMC). this study, metabolic capacity entire community in...
This work investigated the toxicity of two isomeric alkylphthalates, i.e., di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) to two model bacteria, Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), which have been previously used to study the toxicity of environmental pollutants. Microcalorimetry was used as the key analytical tool alongside scanning electron microsc...
