Increasing interest in serum enzyme levels in various conditions has led to recognition of the value of the estimation of creatine phosphokinase activity in muscular disorders. Interpretation of the results obtained has been hampered by the lack of adequate information about the ;normal range'. Data for the normal levels of creatine phosphokinase in cord blood, children, and adults are presented.
Rhabdomyolysis constitutes an uncommon cause of acute kidney injury (AKI). A large variety causes with different pathogenic mechanisms may involve skeletal muscles resulting in rhabdomyolysis or without injury. Crush syndrome and unaccustomed physical exertion are the most common rhabdomyolysis. This study reports local cases AKI secondary to that presented a tertiary care centre over period fo...
OBJECTIVE The impact of obesity on ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI) is still poorly understood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the role of waist circumference (WC) and body mass index as predictors of cardiac remodeling in patients after an anterior MI. METHODS Eighty-three consecutive patients with anterior MI were prospectively evaluated. Clinical ch...
The association between admission electrocardiogram and 6-month change in left ventricular function and volume was assessed in 200 patients who had acute myocardial infarction that was treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Logistic regression analysis indicated peak creatine phosphokinase-MB, number of Q-wave leads, QRS interval distortion, wall motion score index, and angiog...
Serial monitoring of the serum isoenzyme patterns of creatine phosphokinase (CPK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in patients suspected of acute myocardial infarction has become a highly sensitive and specific diagnostic method. The predictable evolution of isoenzyme patterns following infarction permits diagnosis and recognition of early stages, recovery stages and extension of infarction in t...
hemiscorpius lepturus is medically important scorpion species present in the south and southwest part of iran, causing morbidity and mortality in children and adults. unlike other scorpions studied so far, the venom of h. lepturus is highly cytotoxic, that can be a reason for its complexity in clinical manifestations in patients stung by this scorpion. scarce studies showed the mechanism involv...
