Anisotropy, which is characteristic of metamorphic rocks such as schists, is due to a process of metamorphic differentiation. Preferred orientation of minerals like mica and chlorite in response to tectonic stresses makes schistose rocks foliated. As a result their engineering properties vary with the direction of loading. The influence of transverse anisotropy on strength and deformational res...

in the present investigation, the cyclic load deformation behaviour of soil-fly ash layered system isstudied using different intensities of failure load (i = 25%, 50% and 75%) with varying number of cycles (n =10, 50 and 100). an attempt has been made to establish the use of fly ash as a fill material for embankments ofhighways and railways and to examine the effect of cyclic loading on the lay...

in this study, a researching program is conducted by cyclic triaxial test to determine the post-cyclic behavior of bushehr carbonate sand retrieved from the north of the persian gulf, under anisotropic consolidation at 200 kpa confining pressure. the article compares the post-cyclic monotonic strength and excess pore water pressures generated after the test with the pre-cyclic monotonic results...

A series of triaxial repetitive impact tests were conducted on a 50-mm-diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar testing device to reveal the characteristics dynamic stress–strain sandstone under confining pressure, and in this study was set as 5 10 MPa. The results showed that is very sensitive strain rate. As rate increases, strength, critical absorbed energy also however with increases number im...

Quartz is an important component of the Earth. In this study, experiments were conducted at temperatures between 600 to 700 °C, confining pressures 1.5 and 1.8 GPa, differential stress conditions. It was found that coesite production closely related stress, reaction time, temperature, with formation being a multifactorial coupling process.
