In this paper we consider quasi-concave set functions defined on antimatroids. There are many equivalent axiomatizations of antimatroids, that may be separated into two categories: antimatroids defined as set systems and antimatroids defined as languages. An algorthmic characterization of antimatroids, that considers them as set systems, was given in [4]. This characterization is based on the i...
Let $C_0(alpha)$ denote the class of concave univalent functions defined in the open unit disk $mathbb{D}$. Each function $f in C_{0}(alpha)$ maps the unit disk $mathbb{D}$ onto the complement of an unbounded convex set. In this paper, we study the mapping properties of this class under integral operators.
In this paper, we present a version of Favard's inequality for special case and then generalize it for the Sugeno integral in fuzzy measure space $(X,Sigma,mu)$, where $mu$ is the Lebesgue measure. We consider two cases, when our function is concave and when is convex. In addition for illustration of theorems, several examples are given.
We reconsider Stackelberg’s classical critique of the Cournot duopoly, in the framework of endogenous timing for two-player games. For quantity duopoly we provide different sets of minimal conditions, directly on the demand and cost functions, yielding respectively the simultaneous and the two sequential modes of play. While our findings essentially confirm the predominance of the former, they ...
In this paper we establish some new inequalities for differentiable functions based on concavity and s-convexity. We also prove several Hadamard-type inequalities for products of two convex and s-convex functions. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
Studies of optimal growth in a multisector framework are generally addressed in reduced form models. These are defined by an indirect utility function which summarizes the consumers’ preferences and the technologies. Weak concavity assumptions of the indirect utility function allow one to prove differentiability of optimal solutions and stability of steady state. This paper shows that if the co...
The preference of a concave nontransitive consumer is represented by a skew-symmetric and concave-convex bifunction on the set of all commodity bundles. This paper characterizes finite sets of demand observations that are consistent with the demand behavior of such kind of consumer by a generalized monotonicity property.
In this paper we propose a regularized relaxation based graph matching algorithm. The graph matching problem is formulated as a constrained convex quadratic program, by relaxing the permutation matrix to a doubly stochastic one. To gradually push the doubly stochastic matrix back to a permutation one, a simple weighted concave regular term is added to the convex objective function. The concave ...
We investigate the extremal points of a functional ∫ f(∇u), for a convex or concave function f . The admissible functions u : Ω ⊂ RN → R are convex themselves and satisfy a condition u2 ≤ u ≤ u1. We show that the extremal points are exactly u1 and u2 if these functions are convex and coincide on the boundary ∂Ω. No explicit regularity condition is imposed on f , u1, or u2. Subsequently we discu...
