Human platelets and platelet particulate fractions were found to emit a burst of chemiluminescence during incubation with arachidonic acid. The magnitude of light emission was directly related to the number of platelets in the reaction mixture and varied little for the same individual from day to day. The chemiluminescence response of platelets was localized to the particulate fraction and was ...

A review with 90 references is presented to show the development of acidic chemiluminescence methods for biochemical analysis by use of flow injection technique in the last 10 years. A brief discussion of both the chemiluminescence and flow injection technique is given. The proposed methods for biochemical analysis are described and compared according to the used chemiluminescence system.

We describe a method for the detection of gangliosides on thin-layer chromatography plates using enhanced chemiluminescence. In contrast to previously published colorimetric techniques, the use of chemiluminescence of detect antibody binding to gangliosides has increased sensitivity and simplicity. In addition, the use of chemiluminescence lacks the hazards of radioactivity, and produces a perm...

Pasteurella haemolytica A1 crude leukotoxin (25%, vol/vol) rapidly diminished the bovine neutrophil chemiluminescence response to opsonized zymosan. This inhibition was neither prevented nor reversed by 75 mM sucrose. Dilute leukotoxin did not directly stimulate neutrophil chemiluminescence nor did it alter the chemiluminescence response of the neutrophils to opsonized zymosan.

In situ and perfused rat livers showed a spontaneous chemiluminescence of 7-12 counts/sec . cm2 (corresponding to 7-12 x 10(3) photons/sec . cm2); chemiluminescence was increased up to 30 times by infusion of exogenous hydroperoxides. The chemiluminescence of the perfused liver was oxygen dependent. Ethyl, t-butyl, and cumene hydroperoxides were almost equally effective in inducing light emissi...

a sensitive and fast chemiluminescence (cl) method has been described for the direct determination of atropine. the method is based on the quenching effect of atropine on the cl signals of the luminol– h2o2 reaction catalyzed by hemin in an alkaline medium. hemin could strongly enhance the chemiluminescence of the luminol–h2o2 system. the luminophor of the luminol–h2o2–hemin cl system was ident...

peroxyoxalate system includes an oxalate ester, peroxide and a fluorescer, the energy resulted from the reaction of oxalate ester and peroxide is transferred to fluorescer and cause it to fluorsc. the effect of reactants chemical structure, their concentration, solvent media (polarity and viscosity) and the temperature, on the intensity of the illuminated light with respect to time have been st...

Recently it has been shown that the natural killer (NK)-target cell interaction results in an immediate burst of chemiluminescence. In this paper we investigated to apply chemilumines cence assay for the evaluation of human NK cell activities. Degrees of chemiluminescence were dependent on the concentration of lymphocytes or tar. get cells, but optimal concentrations of lymphocytes and target c...

The chemiluminescence properties of firefly luciferin were studied, in a variety of chemical systems different from those in which it is usually studied. It was found that luciferin is a multifunctional chemiluminescence molecule, as it can behave as a chemiluminescence sensitizer, an emitter and a substrate. The first two roles are here reported for the first time, while we have found a novel ...

Chemiluminescence technique as a novel detection method has gained much attention in recent years owning to the merits of high sensitivity, wider linear ranges, and low background signal. Similarly, nanotechnology especially for gold nanoparticles has emerged as detection tools due to their unique physical and chemical properties. Recently, it has become increasingly popular to couple gold nano...
