BACKGROUND Cerebral hemorrhage is common in patients with cancer, but the clinical features and pathogenesis of liver cancer patients with cerebral hemorrhage are not well known. MATERIAL AND METHODS Liver cancer patients who developed cerebral hemorrhage were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University between January 2003 and December 2014. We retrospectively an...

Intracranial hemorrhage is common and is caused by diverse pathology, including trauma, hypertension, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, hemorrhagic conversion of ischemic infarction, cerebral aneurysms, cerebral arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistula, vasculitis, and venous sinus thrombosis, among other causes. Neuroimaging is essential for the treating physician to identify the ca...

BACKGROUND Cerebral vasospasm is commonly seen in subarachnoid hemorrhage. However the vasospasm in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage without subarachnoid extension has not been described. REPORT We report a patient who developed intracerebral hemorrhage associated with cerebral vasospasm demonstrated by conventional angiography. The vasospasm involved the superior and inferior divisions o...

Left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy and dysfunction due to hypertension have been established as risk markers for stroke in hypertensive patients. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in LV hypertrophy and dysfunction between patients with cerebral hemorrhage and those with cerebral infarction. The study enrolled 23 hypertensive patients with cerebral infarction, 25 hypertensi...

To emphasize the important association of polycystic kidney disease and hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage, a registry of 900 consecutive cases of hemorrhagic stroke was reviewed. Eleven patients (1.2%) had intracranial hemorrhage (eight had hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage and the other three had aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage) found to be associated with polycystic kidney disease. These 11 ...

The possibility that the prostanoid system contributes to the capability of the newborn piglet to maintain cerebral blood flow and cerebral metabolic rate during hypotension was investigated. The effect of hemorrhage on net (arterial-to-venous) cerebral prostacyclin production and the effects of indomethacin on cerebral hemodynamic response to hemorrhage and on the cerebral oxygen utilization f...

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) rarely induces cerebral hemorrhage, and CVST with cerebral hemorrhage during early pregnancy is extremely rare. Upon literature review, we are able to find only one case of CVST with cerebral hemorrhage in early pregnancy. In this paper, we report another case of a 27-year-old patient who developed CVST with cerebral hemorrhage in her fifth week of pregna...

The relationship between recovery from aphasia and regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) was compared in 87 patients, 44 with cerebral hemorrhage and 43 with non-embolic cerebral infarction. CBF values correlated poorly with aphasia outcome in patients with cerebral hemorrhage whereas a tight correlation was demonstrated in patients with non-embolic cerebral infarction. A marked variability of CBF...

We report the finding of multiple cerebral aneurysms in a pair of identical twins. One twin had subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracerebral hematoma; her sister had subarachnoid hemorrhage and intraventricular bleeding. Angiography in both cases showed multiple cerebral aneurysms. It is appropriate to recommend a cerebral angiographic examination of an asymptomatic twin after the other twin has s...

Coarctation of the aorta is an uncommon cause of cerebral hemorrhage in the full- or near-term infant. The clinical, radiologic, and neurologic findings of four infants with aortic coarctation and cerebral hemorrhage are presented. In all four infants, cerebral hemorrhage was associated with only moderate elevation of systolic blood pressure (90-110 mmHg).
