In this paper the Casimir effect for parallel plates at finite temperature in the presence of compactified universal extra dimensions is analyzed. We show the thermal corrections to the effect in detail. We investigate the Casimir effect for different size of universal extra dimensions. casimir forces of massive ferrnionic dirac fields are calculated for parallel plates geometry in spatial space with dimension d and imposing bag model boundary conditions. it is shown that in the range of ma>>l where m is mass of fields quanta and a is the separation distance of the plates, it is equal to massive bosonic fields casimir force for each degree of freedom. we argue this equality ex...
A new " polarized version " of the Casimir Effect is measurable Abstract We argue that the exactly computable, angle dependent, Casimir force between parallel plates with different directions of conductivity can be measured.
We study the thermal interaction between two nearby thin metallic wires, at finite temperature. It is shown that the Johnson currents in the wires give rise, via inductive coupling, to a repulsive force between them. This thermal interaction exhibits all the puzzling features found recently in the thermal Casimir effect for lossy metallic plates, suggesting that the physical origin of the diffi...
In discussions of the cosmological constant, the Casimir effect is often invoked as decisive evidence that the zero point energies of quantum fields are “real”. On the contrary, Casimir effects can be formulated and Casimir forces can be computed without reference to zero point energies. They are relativistic, quantum forces between charges and currents. The Casimir force (per unit area) betwee...
The Casimir effect for parallel plates in the presence of compactified universal extra dimensions within the frame of Kaluza-Klein theory is analyzed. Having regularized and discussed the expressions of Casimir force in the limit, we show that the nature of Casimir force is repulsive if the distance between the plates is large enough and the higher-dimensional spacetime is, the greater the valu...
The Casimir effect for parallel plates within the frame of five-dimensional RandallSundrum model with two branes is reexamined. We argue that the nature of Casimir force is repulsive if the distance between the plates is not extremely tiny, which is not consistent with the experimental phenomena. We also point out that the estimation of the separation between the two branes, by means of Casimir...
We analyze the high temperature (or classical) limit of the Casimir effect (for various massless fields). A simple physical argument suggests that the Casimir energy (as opposed to the Casimir free energy) should vanish in the classical limit. We check the validity of this argument for massless scalar field confined in a cavity with boundaries of arbitrary shape, using path integral formalism. ...
In 1948 Casimir predicted an unexpected quantum field theory (QFT) effect: as a consequence of distorting the vacuum of the quantized electromagnetic field, two conducting and neutral parallel plates should attract each other with a force proportional to the inverse of the fourth power of their separation [1] (for general reviews on the Casimir effect, see Refs. [2]; for an introductory guide, ...
