Abstract Introduction In cardiac amyloidosis (CA), amyloid fibers accumulate in the extracellular spaces of heart, causing a compression and obliteration lymphatic vessels, possibly their disappearance. As lympathic drainage removes proteins from interstitial spaces, including precursors, an impairment vessels could exacerbate accumulation, triggering vicious circle. Methods Lymphatic were visu...

This paper provides an overview of the basic concepts of intertemporal equilibrium theory, and discusses the frameworks and techniques used in this subject. It then goes on to introduce the main themes discussed in the papers included in this symposium issue. Journal of Economic Literature Classification Numbers: C61, D90, O41. 2001 Academic Press
We prove the generality of the methodology proposed in Benigno and Woodford (2006). We show that, even in the presence of a distorted steady state, it is always possible and relatively simple to obtain a purely quadratic approximation to the welfare measure. We also show that, in order to do so, the timeless perspective assumption is crucial. JEL classification: C61, C63
This paper highlights connections between the discrete and continuous approaches to optimal auction design with single and multi-dimensional types. We provide an interpretaion of an optimal auction design problem in terms of a linear program that is an instance of a parametric shortest path problem on a lattice. We also solve some cases explicitly in the discrete framework. JEL Classification: ...
Connecting private dwellings to the water main is expensive and typically cannot be publicly financed. We show that households’ willingness to pay for a private connection is high when it can be purchased on credit, not because a connection improves health but because it increases the time available for leisure and reduces interand intra-household conflicts on water matters, leading to sustaine...
We explore heat-related labor impacts both for their own interest and to understand the role of adaptation in responding to climate change. Focusing on non-agricultural sectors in the United States, we find that hot temperatures exert a causal negative impact on county-level payroll – reducing payroll by several percentage points in a 2◦C hotter year – with larger impacts in highly exposed indu...
