We present a construction method of BIB-designs from a finite group G and a group of automorphisms Φ on G such that |Φ(x)| = |Φ| for all x ∈ G, x = 0. By using a generalization of the concept of a difference family we can so unify several previous constructions of BIB-designs from planar near-rings.

Glucocorticoid hormones such as corticosterone (CORT) play crucial roles in many physiological processes. CORT's actions are primarily mediated via binding to two receptors (glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) and mineralocorticoid receptors (MRs)) in different target tissues. CORT receptors can be independently regulated from circulating hormone titres, from tissue to tissue and even within differe...

Cell adhesion molecules mediate numerous developmental processes necessary for the segregation and organization of tissues. Here we show that the zebrafish biber (bib) mutant encodes a dominant allele at the N-cadherin locus. When knocked down with antisense oligonucleotides, bib mutants phenocopy parachute (pac) null alleles, demonstrating that bib is a gain-of-function mutation. The mutant ph...

As the gap between processor speed and memory speed grow, so the performance penalty of instruction cache misses gets higher. Instruction cache prefetching is a technique to reduce this penalty. The prefetching methods determine the target line to be prefetched generally based on the current fetched line address. However, as the cache line becomes wider, it may contain multiple branches. This i...

BACKGROUND Evidence suggests that the process of taking part in health research can improve participants' health, independent of any intended intervention. However, no research has yet explored whether these effects differ across socioeconomic groups. If the effect of mere participation in health research also has a social gradient this could increase health inequalities and bias research resul...

A biomonitoring campaign was conducted in the Belgian North Sea and in the Western Scheldt (The Netherlands) with the primary goal to assess perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) contamination and distribution in different biota. This study covers the results obtained for bib (Trisopterus luscus) and plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) and includes the assessment of some stress-related biochemical en...

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) is one of the most important medicinal plants in Iran. The main objective of this study was to determine the effects of organic nutrients on the yield and oil content of chamomile. The experiment was conducted in the spring of 2010. The treatment groups consisted of vermicompost (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 tons/ha) and the Aminol Forte sprays (no spraying or contro...

Running races, such as marathons, are broadly covered by professional as well as amateur photographers. This leads to a constantly growing number of photos covering a race, making the process of identifying a particular runner in such datasets difficult. Today, such identification is often done manually. In running races, each competitor has an identification number, called the Racing Bib Numbe...

We consider a functional on the Wiener space which is smooth and not degenerated in Malliavin sense and we give a criterion for the strict positivity of the density, that we can use to state lower bounds as well. The results are based on the representation of the density in terms of the Riesz transform introduced in Malliavin and Thalmaier bib:[M.T] [16] and on the estimates of the Riesz transf...

The glycoprotein (GP) llb-Illa complex was isolated from human platelet membranes by immunoaffinity chromatography using a monocbonal antibody specific for GP bIb-lIla. GP llb and lIla were further separated in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) by gel filtration high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Two cycles of this procedure yielded almost complete separation of homogeneo...
