Electron microscopy of 11-day-old Notophthalmus viridescens retinal pigmented epithelium reveals particulate premelanosomes which are identical to the melanosomes found in the oocyte. These organelles, when found in the pigmented epithelium, are called premelanosomes because they undergo further maturation to form relatively homogeneous, spherical melanosomes. At this stage, oocyte melanosomes ...
in this work, benzyl alcohol was obtained in 96% excellent yield by hydrolysis of benzyl chloride catalyzedby the recyclable temperature-dependant phase-separation system that comprised the ionic liquid peg1000-dail[bf4], toluene and ferric sulfate under homogeneous catalysis in aqueous media. this novel methodnot only enhanced the yield, but also made the operating units easy workup. the catal...
a theoretical density functional theory (dft) study was performed on a series of the neutral n-phenylthiourea substituents (p-oc2h5, p-ch3, m-ch3, h, p-cl, p-br, m-cl, and p-no2) as the sensor of acetate and fluoride anions. the hydrogen bond character was analyzed as a scale of the sensing activity. it was confirmed that hydrogen bond between the p-no2 derivatives of n-phenylthiourea and fluor...
A series of 474 mixed cases of glaucoma was assessed to determine whether there were any genetic differences between different types of glaucoma. A careful distinction was made between chronic open angle glaucoma (COAG), acute and chronic angle closure glaucoma, ocular hypertension, low tension glaucoma, patients with large cup disc ratios, and various types of secondary glaucoma including pseu...
Past studies suggest that phenylthiocarbamide (PTC) taste status is related to vulnerability to depression, such that those sensitive to PTC are more vulnerable. We questioned this, reasoning that those insensitive to PTC may be more vulnerable (because they may have lower hedonic tone and higher risk for alcohol abuse). Forty-two volunteers responded to questionnaires regarding family history ...
The percentage of non-tasters for phenylthiocarbamide in 915 Japanese students was 9.4%. The thresholds of the edge and back of the tongue to quinine hydrochloride were significantly smaller in the non-tasters than in the tasters. The thresholds of any tongue portions to NaCl, acetic acid or sucrose did not differ between the tasters and the non-tasters.
