Children with probable community-associated Staphylococcus aureus skin and soft tissue or invasive infections were randomized to routine daily hygienic measures with or without "bleach baths" twice a week for 3 months. Within 12 months, a medically attended recurrence occurred in 84 of 495 (17%) children using bleach baths compared to 103 of 492 (21%) of control participants (P = .15).

OBJECTIVES The goals were to determine the prevalence of community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus colonization in patients with atopic dermatitis and to determine whether suppression of S aureus growth with sodium hypochlorite (bleach) baths and intranasal mupirocin treatment improves eczema severity. METHODS A randomized, investigator-blinded, placebo-controlled study w...

We show that in mesoscopic four-terminal thermoelectric devices with two electrodes (the source and the drain) heat baths, inelastic scattering processes can lead to unconventional transport. The (or be cooled by passing a thermal current between no net exchange baths electrodes. This effect, termed as cooling current, is drag effect. In addition, there transverse effect where electrical power ...

Nanofiltration (NF) has become a widely accepted process not only for producing drinking water but also for recovering wastewater in industrial processes or removing pollutants from industrial wastewater effluent. In the textile industry, the treatment of various dye baths with NF at room temperature have already been studied and was found feasible at lab-scale and pilot scale. The aim of this ...

We address the question of transport heat, in out-of-equilibrium systems. The experimental set-up consists two coupled granular gas Non-Equilibrium Steady State (NESS) heat baths, which Brownian-like rotors are imbedded. These electro-mechanically thanks to DC micro-motors, through a resistor $R$, such that energy flows between them. average flux depends linearly difference baths' temperature. ...

So wrote the Elder Pliny in Book XXXI of his Natural History, a section devoted entirely to water, which was the element he considered "lord over all the others".' In Pliny's day the major spas were termed aquae, of which around one hundred are recorded. Many remain unlocated; at some the springs are now dry; at others, due to continued usage, the ancient installations are sealed, or partially ...
