In this paper, we show that for an almost locally separable metrizable space X, if its Wijsman hyperspace induced by one compatible metric is Baire, then X itself must be Baire. We also provide an example to demonstrate the necessity of separability.
We study reflection principles involving nonmeager sets and the Baire Property which are consequences of the generic supercompactness of ω2, such as the principle asserting that any point countable Baire space has a stationary set of closed subspaces of weight ω1 which are also Baire spaces. These principles entail the analogous principles of stationary reflection but are incompatible with forc...
We give a constructive proof that Baire space embeds in any inhabited locally non-compact complete separable metric space, X, in such a way that every sequentially continuous function from Baire space to Z extends to a function from X to R. As an application, we show that, in the presence of certain choice and continuity principles, the statement “all functions from X to R is continuous” is fal...
We show that an infinite-dimensional complete linear space X has: • a dense hereditarily Baire Hamel basis if |X| ≤ c; • a dense non-meager Hamel basis if |X| = κ = 2 for some cardinal κ. According to Corollary 3.4 of [BDHMP] each infinite-dimensional separable Banach space X has a non-meager Hamel basis. This is a special case of Theorem3.3 of [BDHMP], asserting that an infinite-dimensional Ba...
We present an infinite game that characterizes the Borel functions on Baire Space.
Ferrando and Lüdkovsky proved that for a non-empty set Ω normed space X, the c0(Ω,X) is barrelled, ultrabornological, or unordered Baire-like if only X is, respectively, Baire-like. When metrizable locally convex space, with an increasing sequence of semi-norms .n∈N defining its topology, then over field K (of real complex numbers) all functions f:Ω→X such each ε>0 n∈N ω∈Ω:f(ω)n>ε finite ...
The following discusses a generalization of Baire category in a continuous set. The objective is to provide a meaningful classification of subsets of a continuous set as “large” or “small” sets in linearly ordered continuous sets. In particular, for cardinal number κ, the continuous ordered set 2∗ a subset of the set of dyadic sequences of length κ is discussed. We establish that this space, an...
All spaces considered are metric separable and are denoted usually by the letters X, Y , or Z. ω stands for the set of all natural numbers. If a metric separable space is additionally complete, we call it Polish; if it is a continuous image of ω or, equivalently, of a Polish space, it is called Souslin. The main subject of the present paper is the structure of Baire class 1 functions. Recent de...
We investigate the existence of well-ordered sequences of Baire 1 functions on separable metric spaces. Any set F of real valued functions defined on an arbitrary set X is partially ordered by the pointwise order, that is f ≤ g iff f(x) ≤ g(x) for all x ∈ X. In other words put f < g iff f(x) ≤ g(x) for all x ∈ X and f(x) 6= g(x) for at least one x ∈ X. Our aim will be to investigate the possibl...
