In multifrequency atomic force microscopy higher eigenmodes are externally excited to enhance resolution and contrast while simultaneously increasing the number of experimental observables with the use of gentle forces. Here, the implications of externally exciting multiple frequencies are discussed in terms of cantilever anharmonicity, fundamental period and the onset of subharmonic and superh...

a simple method has been employed to synthesize copper and copper oxide nanoparticles from copper (ii) succinate precursor by thermal decomposition method using oleylamine as a capping agent. the particles synthesized with oleylamine and triphenylphosphine were well dispersed nanoparticles obtained from x-ray diffraction (xrd). the synthesized copper nanoparticles were characterized by uv-visib...

We report modulation transfer spectroscopy on the D2 transitions in 85Rb and 87Rb using a simple home-built electro-optic modulator (EOM). We show that both the gradient and amplitude of modulation transfer spectroscopy signals, for the 87Rb F = 2 → F ′ = 3 and the 85Rb F = 3 → F ′ = 4 transitions, can be significantly enhanced by expanding the beams, improving the signals for laser frequency s...

We have demonstrated and modeled a simple and efficient method to transfer atoms from a first Magneto-Optical Trap (MOT) to a second one. Two independent setups, with cesium and rubidium atoms respectively, have shown that a high power and slightly diverging laser beam optimizes the transfer between the two traps when its frequency is red-detuned from the atomic transition. This pushing laser e...

The role of orbital polarization for ultrafast charge transfer between an atomic adsorbate and a substrate is explored. Core hole clock spectroscopy with linearly polarized x-ray radiation allows to selectively excite adsorbate resonance states with defined spatial orientation relative to the substrate surface. For c(4 x 2)S/Ru(0001) the charge transfer times between the sulfur 2s(-1)3p*+1 anti...

Coherent control of resonant and non-resonant two-photon absorption processes was examined using a spatio-temporal pulse-shaping technique. By utilizing a combination of temporal focusing and femtosecond pulse-shaping techniques, we spatially control multiphoton absorption processes in a completely deterministic manner. Distinctive symmetry properties emerge through two-dimensional mapping of s...

We propose a scheme to obtain soliton atom laser with nonclassical atoms based on quantum state transfer process from light to matter waves in nonlinear case, which may find novel applications in, e.g., an atom interferometer. The dynamics of the atomic gray solitons and the accompanied frequency chirp effect are discussed. PACS numbers: 03.75.-b, 42.50.Gy, 03.65.Ta, 03.67.-a Since the first pu...

We propose a protocol to achieve high fidelity quantum state teleportation of a macroscopic atomic ensemble using a pair of quantum-correlated atomic ensembles. We show how to prepare this pair of ensembles using quasiperfect quantum state transfer processes between light and atoms. Our protocol relies on optical joint measurements of the atomic ensemble states and magnetic feedback reconstruct...
