Transition metal-catalyzed directing group assisted C–H functionalizations provide a straightforward access to wide variety of nonproteinogenic amino acids. While altering the side chain an existing natural acids is one way, introducing functional aliphatic amine synthesize versatile unnatural another exciting avenue. In this work, we explore both possibilities by palladium-catalyzed δ-C(sp3)–H...
Despite their prevalence in organic synthesis, the application of boronic acids (BAs) as alkyl radical precursors visible-light-assisted photocatalyzed reactions has been limited by high oxidation potential. This study demonstrates prominent ability amide solvents, namely, N,N-dimethylacetamide, to participate hydrogen-bonding interactions with BAs, thus enabling modulation potential toward gen...
Glycoscience is an emerging field of science that focuses on the study of the structure, biosynthesis, biology, and evolution of saccharides (sugars). It covers a broad range of subjects including microwave-assisted synthesis as well as sphingolipid synthesis. In this field, knowledge is limited due to the complexity of carbohydrates and their derivatives. Therefore, it is all the more importan...
An effective protocol has been developed that allows the smooth protodecarboxylation of diversely functionalized aromatic carboxylic acids within 5-15 min. In the presence of at most 5 mol % of an inexpensive catalyst generated in situ from copper(I) oxide and 1,10-phenanthroline, even nonactivated benzoates were converted in high yields and with great preparative ease.
Brønsted or Lewis acid assisted activation of an imidogold precatalyst (L-Au-Pht, Pht = phthalimide) offers a superior way to generate cationic gold compared with the commonly used silver-based system. It is also broadly applicable for most common gold-catalyzed reactions. For reactions that require milder conditions, milder acids can be used for optimized efficiency.
A commercially available, computer-assisted microbial identification system (MIS) employs gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of cellular fatty acids for bacterial identification. MIS was compared with conventional identification systems. Of 225 gram-negative anaerobes tested, MIS identified 72.4% of the strains to the species level, 88.9% to the appropriate group, and 93.3% to the correct genus.
Direct microwave-assisted Pd(0)-catalyzed/Cu(I)-mediated carbon-carbon cross-coupling of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2-thiones and boronic acids under Liebeskind-Srogl conditions leads to 2-aryl-1,4-dihydropyrimidines in moderate to high yield. In contrast, Cu(II)-mediated reaction of the same substrates leads to carbon-sulfur cross-coupling. [reaction: see text]
Results from our group showed benzyl salicylate to be a moderate inhibitor of the CD81-LEL-HCV-E2 interaction. To increase the biological activity, heterocyclic substituted benzoic acids were coupled to amino acid esters via microwave assisted DCC-reaction. The prepared compounds were tested for their inhibitory potency by means of a fluorescence labeled antibody assay system using HUH7.5 cells.
The microwave-assisted three-component reactions of 3,5-bis(E)-arylmethylidene]tetrahydro-4(1H)-pyridinones, acenaphthenequinone and cyclic α-amino acids in an ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide, occurred through a domino sequence affording structurally intriguing diazaheptacyclic cage-like compounds in excellent yields.
