Pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta may occur as a consequence of blunt abdominal trauma. Immediate surgery should be performed, once the diagnosis of aortic disruption is made because it is potentially lethal injury. We present a case of a young man, who underwent successful surgical treatment of abdominal aortic pseudoaneurysm following blunt trauma.

Fourteen days after aortic valve replacement a 60-year-old male patient presented with sternal infection. Subsequent transesophagal echocardiography revealed a huge and pulsatile pseudoaneurysm near the non-coronary sinus of Valsalva. To prevent potential rupture pseudoaneurysm was resected and aortic root replaced with a homograft. Under antibiotic therapy postoperative course was uneventful (...

Sixteen-slice multidetector CT findings of a pulsatile pseudoaneurysm of the mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa, in a woman following aortic valve replacement, are presented. Multidetector CT depicted the pseudoaneurysm and enabled dynamic evaluation of its lumen through the cardiac cycle, documenting expansion during systole and almost complete collapse during diastole. This case illustrates ...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to identify the predisposing factors for pseudoaneurysm formation after aortic valve replacement without previous endocarditis. METHODS Echocardiography was used to identify patients. Parameters with influence on the occurrence of pseudoaneurysms were analyzed, and the odds ratio for the influence of the type of valve was estimated. The chi2 goodness-of-fi...

Iatrogenic aortic injuries are rare and well-recognized complications of a variety of procedures, including spinal surgery. The placement of pedicle screws is sometimes associated with devastating consequences. Aortic perforation with rapid hematoma formation and delayed aortic trauma leading to pseudoaneurysm formation have been described in the literature. A case describing a significant time...

Cases of an endovascular treatment for traumatic aortic injury are extremely rare. A prompt diagnosis of traumatic thoracic aortic pseudoaneurysm through a 3-dimensional computed tomographic angiography of aorta and emergency repair are mandatory to rescue the life-threatening condition. An endovascular treatment is a trend for traumatic aortic injury because of lower invasivity, morbidity and ...

Aortic arch pseudoaneurysm is a rare condition but carries a high risk of rupture. We report a case of a 45-year-old man with aortic arch pseudoaneurysm between left common carotid artery (LCCA) and left subclavian artery (LSA), in which a endovascular stent graft combined with double chimneys covered stents were successfully placed. There were no any complaints and complications after 12 month...

UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION Annular subvalvular pseudoaneurysm is a rare example of left ventricle aneurysm described predominantly in young African people. These aneurysms are divided into two different types, namely, submitral or subaortic, with subaortic being the less frequent kind. The subaortic type is most often localized in the mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa. To the best of our know...

There are no previous reports of rupture of a heterologous pericardial patch after aortic annulus enlargement. Our patient, a 72-year-old Japanese female, presented with congestive heart failure resulting from heart compression from pseudoaneurysm formation in the aortic root. At 57 years of age the patient had undergone replacement of the ascending aorta for Stanford type A acute aortic dissec...

PURPOSE To report stent-graft repair of a traumatic aortic pseudoaneurysm in proximity to a celiacomesenteric trunk. CASE REPORT An 18-year-old woman suffered a large gunshot wound to the right flank. At laparotomy, only a large, nonexpanding right retroperitoneal hematoma was found, which was thought to represent significant penetrating trauma to the kidney mass. The patient was monitored in...
