Acyclovir-resistant clinical isolates of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) were analyzed in vitro for their susceptibilities to essential oils of ginger, thyme, hyssop, and sandalwood. All essential oils exhibited high levels of virucidal activity against acyclovir-sensitive strain KOS and acyclovir-resistant HSV-1 clinical isolates and reduced plaque formation significantly.
The phases of the ANISE project (Architectural Notions In Service Engineering) are briefly explained with reference to the work reported here. An outline strategy is given for translating ANISE descriptions to LOTOS (Language of Temporal Ordering Specification), thus providing a formal basis. It is shown how modular ANISE descriptions of features can be defined and then merged. Potential featur...
Four essential oils in two concentrations (50 and 100%) of thyme, Thymus vulgaris; Cinnamon, Cinnamomum zeylanicum; Lemon grass, Cymbopagon flexuosus; Anise, Pimpinella anisum and formic acid (65%) were used against varroa mite, Varroa destructor infesting honey bee colonies. Results show that, formic acid and the highest concentration (100%) of tested essential oils caused effective control of...
Essential oil of star anise as well as phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes, for example, trans-anethole, eugenol, β-eudesmol, farnesol, β-caryophyllene and β-caryophyllene oxide, which are present in many essential oils, were examined for their antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) in vitro. Antiviral activity was analyzed by plaque reduction assays and mode of antivira...
anise hyssop is a prennial herb belonging to the lamiaceae family. essential oil of this plant is used in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics industries as well as flavoring liqueurs. since water stress affects the growth, productivity, as well influences the active principles governing medicinal plants, in this research the effect of different water deficit stresses on such morphological traits a...
Background: Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) is herbaceous perennial plants of Lamiaceae family grown in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Northern Africa. Objective: In this research, the effect of harvesting time was studied on essential oil, photosynthetic pigment, and some morphological characteristics of hyssop. Methods: A Field experiment was carried out during 2015/2016 at the Res...
phytochemicals are good sources of natural antioxidants and have beneficial effects on human health. many of phenolic phytochemicals have shown antimicrobial and antifungal activity. anise hyssop ( agastache foeniculum [pursh] kuntze ) is a perennial aromatic plant of the lamiaceae family with antimicrobial and antifungal properties and useful for gastrointestinal problems. in this investigatio...
Consideration of services in the Intelligent Network and telecommunications leads to the definition of ANISE (Architectural Notions In Service Engineering). This is a rigorous language for defining services systematically using a hierarchy of constituent features. The basic telephone call is used as an illustrative example, supplemented by a number of variations that show how ANISE can easily c...
It is argued that languages constructs for defining services are important in providing well-structured descriptions. This view is illustrated with two service definition languages, Anise (Architectural Notions In Service Engineering) and Cress (Chisel Representation Employing Structured Specifications). Anise is a mainly textual notation for defining services through the composition of simpler...
