Allylic alcohols and their derivatives are readily available organic compounds that frequently employed in synthesis. These allylic substrates add oxidatively to transition metals form π-allyl metal species, which instantly become nucleophilic under reductive conditions react with various electrophiles including the rather stable CO2 afford synthetically useful β,γ-unsaturated carboxylic acid d...

Allylic and benzylic alcohols are converted into corresponding unsymmetrical ethers when reacted with various orthoesters in the presence of montmorillonite KSF at ambient temperature. A detailed study has been undertaken to examine the mechanism and generality of these reactions with regard to various acidic catalysts, which reveal interesting competitive reactions mainly O-acetylation, togeth...

This paper describes an enantioselective intermolecular allylic amination catalyzed by a chiral Brønsted acid via a possible chiral contact ion pair intermediate. A variety of symmetrical or unsymmetrical allylic alcohols can be smoothly aminated to afford the desired products in moderate to high yields with good enantioselectivities and/or regioselectivities.

A hydroxyl group-directed, highly regio- and stereoselective transposition of allylic alcohols based on rhenium catalysis has been developed. The method is suitable for a direct isomerization of acetals into the thermodynamically preferred isomer as long as one of the hydroxyl groups is allylic. This method will expand the scope of rhenium-catalyzed alcohol transpositions for complex molecule s...

A one-pot synthesis of new variously substituted γ-chloro-γ, β-allylic carbamates have been carried out starting from β-chloro-α, β-unsaturated aldehydes. The and the corresponding intermediates, alcohols, were fully characterized by (1H 13C) NMR, IR HRMS spectroscopic techniques. crystal structures two allylic carbamates, established single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

The rhodium(III)-catalyzed mild and site-selective C-H allylation of enol carbamates with 4-vinyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one and allylic carbonates affords allylic alcohols and terminal allylated products, respectively. The assistance of the carbamoyl directing group provides a straightforward preparation of biologically and synthetically important allylated enol carbamates.

The stereoselective aziridination of a range of cyclic allylic alcohols using two different chloramine salts (4-MeC(6)H(4)SO(2)NClNa, TsNClNa and t-BuSO(2)NClNa, BusNClNa) has been explored. The stereoselectivity of these reactions was highly dependent on the structure of the allylic alcohol and the chloramine salt. Generally, mixtures of cis- and trans-hydroxy aziridines were obtained, in whic...

A detailed experimental and theoretical study corroborates that the reductive deoxygenation of activated (allylic or benzylic) alcohols with excess Ti(III) proceeds via an allyl(benzyl)-radical and allyl(benzyl)-Ti, which is protonated, regioselectively in the case of allylic derivatives. The H atom of the newly formed C-H bond in the product originates from the -OH group of the starting materi...

Styrene monooxygenase (SMO) can catalyze the kinetic resolution of secondary allylic alcohols to provide enantiopure glycidol derivatives. To overcome the low theoretical yield of kinetic resolution, we designed a one-pot two-step enzymatic cascade using prochiral α,β-unsaturated ketones as the substrates. An S-specific ketoreductase ChKRED03 was screened for the efficient bioreduction of the s...
