Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is a bacterial pathogen causing highly contagious porcine pleuropneumonia. Due to limited information on this species, it is difficult to study the biology of A. pleuropneumoniae at the genome level. Here, we report the fully annotated genome sequence of A. pleuropneumoniae strain KL 16.

the bacterial population found in the gingival sulcus region in periodontitis consists of gram negative microorganisms; most of them are obligate anaerobes and capnophil, including porphyromonas, prevotella, fusobaclenuin, welinella, actinobacillus actinomycetem comitans, eiknella and capnocytohaga. this study has been carried out to investigate anaerobic and capnophilic bacteria from 206 speci...

The three Apx toxins of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae have potential value for use in vaccines and diagnostic tests which will be species specific instead of serotype specific, provided that the Apx toxins are species specific and all field strains produce these toxins. We examined 114 A. pleuropneumoniae field strains and found that they secreted either ApxI, ApxII, ApxI and ApxII, or ApxII ...

A total of 14,818 slaughtered pigs were examined macroscopically. Of these, 25 pigs with porcine pleuropneumonia were collected and the relations among Actinobacillus spp. and granulomatous lesions in organs (lungs and tonsils) were evaluated. In the lungs, only Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotype 2 was isolated from 20 of the pigs. Histologically, granulomatous pneumonia with A. pleuropne...

A cps-based multiplex PCR for typing of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotypes 1, 2 and 5 was developed. This method should be specific and practical in Japan where more than 88% of isolates are serotypes 1, 2 or 5.

A better understanding of the variation in infectivity and its relation with clinical signs may help to improve measures to control and prevent (clinical) outbreaks of diseases. Here we investigated the role of disease severity on infectivity and transmission of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, a bacterium causing respiratory problems in pig farms. We carried out transmission experiments with 1...

statement of problem: the elimination of actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans (a.a) is a key factor for achieving a successful treatment in patients with aggressive periodontitis (agp) whom harboring this organism. this micro organism’s capability to invade to host’s tissues, makes its eradication with mechanical therapy (eg. flap surgery, scaling, oral hygiene) very difficult, so there is no o...

The prepuces of lambs aged 6--8 months and semen of 2 adult rams were found to be infected with gram negative, non-motile, non-haemolytic, pleomorphic bacilli. These organisms were compared with those of known strains of actinobacillus actinomycetem comitans. Actinobacillus seminis and Pasteurella haemolytica, using the API 20 E classification system. Applying the principles of numerical taxono...

The genera Actinobacillus, Haemophilus, and Pasteurella exhibit extensive polyphyletic branching in phylogenetic trees and do not represent coherent clusters of species. In this study, we have utilized molecular signatures identified through comparative genomic analyses in conjunction with genome based and multilocus sequence based phylogenetic analyses to clarify the phylogenetic and taxonomic...

We describe the isolation of Actinobacillus equuli from the blood of a 53-year-old butcher with septicemia. This species of the genus Actinobacillus is primarily associated with animals and animal diseases, especially septicemia in foals. This is the first report of the isolation of A. equuli from a human with septicemia.
