We study the photometric and structural properties of spectroscopically confirmed members in the two massive X-ray–selected z 0:83 galaxy clustersMS 1054–03 and RX J0152.7 1357 using three-band mosaic imaging with the Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Surveys. The samples include 105 and 140 members of RX J0152.7 1357 and MS 1054–03, respectively, to i775 < 24:0. A quantitative classif...
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE To reduce imaging time and complexity, we sought to determine whether single breath-hold, multi-slice TrueFISP (SB-MST) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method is comparable to standard multi-breath-hold, multi-slice TrueFISP (MB-MST) for assessment of left ventricular (LV) wall motion abnormality (WMA), volumes, and ejection fraction (EF). METHODS AND RESULTS We stud...
We present a study of 81 I-band selected, spectroscopically-confirmed members of the X-ray cluster MS 1054−03 at z = 0.83. Redshifts and spectral types were determined from Keck spectroscopy. Morphologies and accurate colors were determined from a large mosaic of HST WFPC2 images in RF606W and IF814W , corresponding to U and B in the restframe. Early-type galaxies constitute only 44 % of this g...
Among single-spanning transmembrane receptors (sTMRs), two guanylyl cyclase receptors, GC1 and GC2, are critically important during phototransduction in vertebrate retinal photoreceptor cells. Ca(2+)-free forms of guanylyl cyclase-activating proteins (GCAPs) stimulate GCs intracellularly by a molecular mechanism that is not fully understood. To gain further insight into the mechanism of activat...
• Objective: To assess process and outcome measures before and after a multifaceted intervention for patients hospitalized on the medical floor with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). • Setting and participants: 1054 patients with CAP admitted to 12 acute care community hospitals from March 1998 to February 2000 (baseline, n = 517) and from October 2000 to March 2001 (postinter-
We study the 4d Heisenberg spin glass model with Gaussian nearestneighbor interactions. We use finite size scaling to analyze the data. We find a behavior consistent with a finite temperature spin glass transition. Our estimates for the critical exponents agree with the results from ε-expansion. Young supernova remnants that contain pulsar wind nebulae provide diagnostics for both the inner part of the supernova and the interaction with the surrounding medium, providing an opportunity to relate these objects to supernova types. Among observed young nebulae, there is evidence for a range of supernova types, including Type IIP (Crab Nebula and SN 1054) and Type IIb/IIn/IIL (G292.0+1.8).
