This study contains the first report of stridulatory sound observed in Panstrongylus rufotuberculatus Champion, 1899, and also a new record of this species in Venezuela. The conditions in which stridulation occurred are described, as well as the general environmental characteristics of the localities where it was found. This triatomine only performs the sound in conditions of extreme provocation.

The occurrences of Nitornus lobulatus Stål, 1859 and parkoi (Costa Lima & Campos Seabra, 1945) from French Guiana N. (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Stenopodainae) Surinam are reported by the first time. discovery these species broadens their known geographic distribution. Brief comments on bionomics information further discussion limited data currently available for assassin bug provided.
The internal reproductive organs of Cosmoclopius nigroannulatus males and females are described, illustrated and measured. No significant difference was registered among immature and reproductive structures of males and their aspect was also similar. However, in females noteworthy differences both in size and aspect were found.
The occurrence of Belminus laportei Lent, Jurberg & Carcavallo, 1995 (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Triatominae) in French Guiana is reported for the first time. A triatomine specimen collected Bélizon, was found to be a female laportei, species known so far only from Pará State, Brazil. discovery this broadens its geographic distribution and increases number triatomines recorded fifteen.
Good taxonomic practice permits not only to adequately document the rapidly diminishing biodiversity of our planet (Wheeler 2008), but also let us set the foundations for phylogenetic assessments among groups of taxa, allowing a more deeply and proper understanding of the biota (Wheeler 2007). Therefore, any taxonomic problems will hinder not only phylogenetic approaches but conservation effort...
Anentome helena (von dem Busch in Philippi, 1847) is known among aquarium enthusiasts as the “assassin snail”, and is usually kept to prey on other snail species that are considered pests in home aquaria. There have been concerns that, given its prevalence in the ornamental pet trade, it is only a matter of time before this predator is introduced to the wild. We report the first occurrence of e...
Searching for morphometric differences between sexes in immature forms, the development of genital plates in the exuviae of Triatoma pallidipennis Stål 1872 nymphs was studied. Differences were found in the form and size of the 9th genital urosternite, it is larger and wider in males as compared to females. This difference is reported in several South American Triatoma species. From our results...
Mortality profile of 48 adult females of Rhodnius robustus shows that data analyzed by weeks and days have a statistical significantly fit (p<0.0001), that allows to affirm that mortality of this species is Gompertzian.
Triatomine bugs show a temporal modulation of many activities. Here, we analyse the daily modulation of the aggregation behaviour of Triatoma infestans larvae and its chronobiological basis. In the laboratory, groups of six bugs were released over an experimental arena during six consecutive days, where their aggregation behaviour was quantified every hour. When submitted to a 12/12 h photoperi...
