Phoenix is a fault-tolerant real-time network-attached storage device (NASD). Like other NASD architectures, Phoenix provides an object-based interface to data stored on network-attached disks. In addition, it features many functionalities not available in other NASDs. Phoenix supports both best-effort reads/writes and real-time disk read accesses required to support real-time multimedia applic...
A man-made environment is characterized by a lot of parallel lines and a lot of orthogonal edges. In this article, a new method for detecting the three mutual orthogonal directions of such an environment is presented. Since realtime performance is not necessary for architectural application, like building reconstruction, a computationally more intensive approach was chosen. On the other hand, o...
Commencing with a review of methods for vanishing point (VP) detection, a new approach is suggested. The proposed approach estimates the location of candidate vanishing points and provides probability measures which reflect the likelihood of those points being the VPs. This new approach allows VPs to be identified in less structured environments compared with its conventional counterparts.
The BD Phoenix AP instrument reduced the manual setup time for the Phoenix system by 50%. For batches of 14 organisms, the average manual manipulation time per isolate was 89.5 s for BD Phoenix by the use of the AP instrument and 101 s for Vitek 2 (P<0.001).
PHOENIX is a toolkit for distributed programming with groups in large-scale distributed systems. The PHOENIX programming interface is objectoriented. It consists in an extensible class library of group management and group communication abstractions, designed with a particular concern for modularity and reusability. By supporting groups of abstract objects rather than groups of operating system...

Vector-containing medium harvested from murine packaging cell lines has been shown to contain factors that can negatively influence the transduction and maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells. Thus, we generated a human packaging cell line with a gibbon ape leukemia virus pseudotype (Phoenix-GALV), and we evaluated vectors produced by Phoenix-GALV for their ability to transduce hematopoietic p...
The Arizona Chapter of the College sponsored a Symposium on Coccidioidomycosis on February 11-13 in Phoenix, in conjunction with the Arizona State Department of Health, the Communicable Disease Center of Phoenix, the United States Public Health Service of Atlanta, Georgia, and in cooperation with the Phoenix City Health Department. Members of the College who participated in the symposium were D...
The Planned Parenthood Committee of Phoenix was established in 1942 to expand Arizona women's access to family planning [2] resources. The Planned Parenthood Committee of Phoenix was formed through the merging of The Mother's Health Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, with the national Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The clinic was primarily based within the Phoenix Memorial Hospital campus b...
