The estimated global ethanol production in 2009 was about 74 mln m. After fermentation remains waste from bottom of distillation columns, termed stillage. This highly aqueous residue containing organic solubles is considered a troublesome and potentially polluting waste due to its extremely high BOD and COD values. Moreover, for each liter of produced ethanol 8 -15 liters of stillage are genera...

In this study, we estimate rice residue, associated burning emissions, and compare results with existing emissions inventories employing a bottom-up approach. We first estimated field-level post-harvest rice residues, including separate fuel-loading factors for rice straw and rice stubble. Results suggested fuel-loading factors of 0.27 kgm (±0.033), 0.61 kgm (±0.076), and 0.88 kgm (±0.083) for ...

in this study the effect of different nitrogen source substrates on the amount of chitosan production by aspergillus niger was investigated. a. niger ptcc 5012 from the persian type culture collection (ptcc) was grown on soy bean, corn seed and canola residues at 30 °c for specified cultivation days under sterilized conditions. chitosan was extracted from the fungal mycelia using hot alkaline a...

The toric residue is a map depending on n + 1 semi-ample divisors on a complete toric variety of dimension n . It appears in a variety of contexts such as sparse polynomial systems, mirror symmetry, and GKZ hypergeometric functions. In this paper we investigate the problem of finding an explicit element whose toric residue is equal to one. Such an element is shown to exist if and only if the as...

It is shown that the extended quadratic residue code of length 20 over GF(7) is a unique self-dual [20, 10, 9] code C such that the lattice obtained from C by Construction A is isomorphic to the 20-dimensional unimodular lattice D 20, up to equivalence. This is done by converting the classification of such self-dual codes to that of skew-Hadamard matrices of order 20.

The largest minimum weight of a self-dual doubly-even binary (n, k, d) code is d = 4bn/24c+ 4. Of such codes with length divisible by 24, the Golay Code is the only (24, 12, 8) code, the Extended Quadratic Residue Code is the only known (48, 24, 12) code, and there is no known (72, 36, 16) code. One may partition the search for a (48, 24, 12) self-dual doubly-even code into 3 cases. A previous ...

In this paper, a decoding method is proposed for the (41, 21, 9) quadratic residue code. The method is acquired through applying the condition of the modified Gao’s algorithm that is similar to fast transform decoding developed by Shiozaki [8]. The property of the syndrome polynomial is used in our decoding method. The new algorithm for has been verified by a software simulation using C languag...

We present a method to increase the dynamical range of a Residue Number System (RNS) by adding virtual RNS layers on top of the original RNS, where the required modular arithmetic for a modulus on any non-bottom layer is implemented by means of an RNS Montgomery multiplication algorithm that uses the RNS on the layer below. As a result, the actual arithmetic is deferred to the bottom layer. The...

Pathogenic bacteria secrete pore-forming toxins (PFTs) to attack target cells. PFTs are expressed as water-soluble monomeric proteins, which oligomerize into nonlytic prepore intermediates on the target cell membrane before forming membrane-spanning pores. Despite a wealth of biochemical data, the lack of high-resolution prepore structural information has hampered understanding of the β-barrel ...
