4 In the 1 970s there were two outstanding changes which influenced the management of spinal disorders. First, significant advances occurred in investigative methods: safer water-soluble contrast agents became available, leading to improved myelography; computerised tomography heralded a revolution in non-invasive imaging of the spinal canal; ultrasonic measuring techniques were applied to the ...
PURPOSE To compare a three-dimensional Fourier transform (3DFT) gradient-echo pulse sequence with magnetization transfer at a short echo time against standard 3DFT gradient-echo technique in the evaluation of cervical spondylosis, specifically addressing the effects of motion and susceptibility artifacts on the dimensions of the neural foramina and contrast at the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-spin...
The case is a 52-year-old male admitted to cardiology department with chest tightness. Admission ECG showed nontypical T-wave changes in V2-V4 leads in pain peroids, and increasing severe narrowing of proximal LAD. Cardiac enzymes were abnormal. Emergency coronary angiography showed severe stenosis (99%) in proximal LAD.
BACKGROUND Degenerative changes of the cervical spine are an inevitable response to certain occupational status and aging processes. Compression of cervical nerve roots may result from disc degeneration, disc herniation or intervertebral foraminal stenosis. The precise and detailed anatomical knowledge of the intervertebral foramen of the cervical spine is essential for the diagnosis and manage...
Aims: It is the objective of this article to investigate the accessory ethmoidal foramina, located in the medial wall of the orbit, adjacent to the anterior and posterior ethmoidal foramina. Previous studies have shown that there is significant variation in the number and location of the fronto-ethmoidal foramina, causing potential complications during surgery. This study aims to identify acces...
Camurati-Engelmann's disease (CED) is a rare disorder worldwide with just over 200 cases reported. No case of CED has been reported in Afghanistan till date. Most patients of CED (also known as progressive diaphyseal dysplasia and oeteopathica hyperostotica multiplex infantalis) present with extremity pain, muscle weakness, and waddling gait. It tends to be bilateral and symmetrical and can aff...
Introduction: To report a case of monoparesis caused by a vertebral artery (VA) anomaly and foraminal stenosis treated with microvascular decompression by the posterior approach. Material and Methods: A 51-year-old man was referred because of a 4-year history of progressive left shoulder pain refractory to other forms of treatment and a 7-month history of arm weakness. Clinical and radiologic e...
Wellens' syndrome is a pattern of electrocardiographic T-wave changes associated with critical, proximal left anterior descending (LAD) artery stenosis. We herein report 2 cases of Wellens' syndrome with segmental wall-motion abnormalities The first case is a 50-year-old man admitted to the emergency department with typical chest pain. Admission ECG showed biphasic T waves in leads V1-V3 with i...
