The removal of copper (II) ion by using ultrasound pre-treatment to increase the pores structure and surface area on peanut husk powder via direct sonication (ultrasound probe) and indirect ultrasound (ultrasound bath) at powder level 3.5 W. In previous studies, researchers had applied ultrasound simultaneous with adsorption process. This method is not suitable to treat huge amount of heavy met...

In 175 patients presenting with thyroid nodules, the diagnostic value in management of fine needle aspiration and cytology (FNAC), pertechnetate (99mTc) scanning and ultrasound imaging was examined. In 82 patients, the diagnosis was confirmed at operation; in the remaining 93, there was a follow-up period of at least 2 years. Thyroid cancer was found in 13 patients. For FNAC the sensitivity, sp...

Fetal lung masses are rare findings in prenatal ultrasound scanning in general population, of which congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation is the most commonly diagnosed type. This paper reports a single case of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation detected at our hospital and the subsequent clinical follow-up using ultrasound scanning and fetal magnetic resonance imaging.

As part of a large-scale noninvasive fetal ultrasound screen to recover ethylnitrosourea (ENU)-induced mutations causing congenital heart defects in mice, we established a high-throughput ultrasound scanning strategy for interrogating fetal mice in utero utilizing three orthogonal imaging planes defined by the fetus' vertebral column and body axes, structures readily seen by ultrasound. This co...

PURPOSE The unique strategy of using cadaveric models for teaching ultrasound-guided blocks has been described for blocks of the upper and lower extremities. This report considers the parallels between cadaveric and live imaging relevant to scanning of the trunk. The inter-individual variation between subjects (particularly for epidural blocks) is also considered, for practicing ultrasound-guid...

Both high resolution (10 MHz) ultrasound and 201-thallium/99m-technetium subtraction scanning (Tl/Tc) were carried out preoperatively in 25 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. Operative findings were the standard against which these two imaging methodologies were compared. Tl/Tc scanning showed a sensitivity of 42% and a specificity of 97%. By comparison, sensitivity of ultrasound was 38...

OBJECTIVE To assess the interobserver reliability of the main periarticular and intra-articular ultrasonographic pathologies and to establish the principal disagreements on scanning technique and diagnostic criteria between a group of experts in musculoskeletal ultrasonography. METHODS The shoulder, wrist/hand, ankle/foot, or knee of 24 patients with rheumatic diseases were evaluated by 23 mu...

STUDY OBJECTIVE This study was conducted to determine whether emergency physicians with relatively limited training and experience can accurately identify the presence or absence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) by performing bedside ultrasound scanning, and to assess the potential impact of ultrasound scanning on clinical management. METHODS Patients in whom AAAs were suspected, includin...

Hepatic steatosis and fibrosis produce abnormal echo patterns on ultrasound scanning, but the potential of ultrasound scanning for diagnosing these conditions in routine clinical practice is uncertain. A prospective comparative study of 85 patients with histologically assessed liver conditions was performed, and specificity was assessed in 76 patients with functional bowel disease who were pres...
