Microkinetics simulations are presented on the intrinsic activity and selectivity of the Fischer-Tropsch reaction with respect to the formation of long chain oxygenated hydrocarbons. Two different chain growth mechanisms are compared: the carbide chain growth mechanism and the CO insertion chain growth mechanism. The microkinetics simulations are based on quantum-chemical data on reaction rate ...

The unique catalytic activity of vanadium nitrogenase suggests a new direction for the direct production of biofuels from CO with either synthetic catalysts or nitrogenase-containing bacteria. The reduction of CO by V nitrogenase to light hydrocarbons shows striking similarities to the established Fischer-Tropsch process; however, the enzyme does not use H(2) directly for this reaction. ADP=ade...

The structure-activity relations in the alumina-supported cobalt catalysts are studied at the realistic conditions of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis using in situ time-resolved XRD and catalytic measurements. Cobalt sintering during the first 3-5 h of the reaction and cobalt carbidisation at a longer time on stream (>8 h) coincide with catalyst deactivation.

The Fischer–Tropsch process is a collection of chemical reactions that converts mixture carbon monoxide and hydrogen, known as syngas, into liquid hydrocarbons. These occur in the presence metal catalysts, typically at temperatures 150–300°C (302–572°F) pressures one to several tens atmospheres. an important reaction both coal liquefaction gas liquids technology for producing In usual implement...

This project extends previously discovered Fe-based catalysts to hydrogen-poor synthesis gas streams derived from coal and biomass sources. These catalysts have shown unprecedented Fischer-Tropsch synthesis rates and selectivities for feedstocks consisting of synthesis gas derived from methane. During the first reporting period, we certified a microreactor, installed required analytical equipme...

the effects of electronic properties of inner and outer surfaces of carbon nano tubes (cnts) on the deactivation of cobalt fischer-tropsch (ft) catalysts were studied. the comparative characterization of the fresh and used catalysts by tem, xrd, tpr, bet and h2 chemisorption showed that cobalt re-oxidation, cobalt-support interactions and sintering are the main sources of catalyst deactivation....

The structural properties and activities of Cu-Co catalysts used in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis are explored according to their method of preparation. Impregnation, co-precipitation, and a novel method of thermal decomposition were applied to an inorganic precursor complex to generate the Cu-promoted alumina- and silica-supported cobalt catalysts. The precursors and the catalysts obtained by ...
