The title compound, [Bi(C(7)H(7))(2)(C(9)H(12)N)], was obtained by treating chlorodi(p-tol-yl)bis-muthane with o-lithio-N,N-dimethyl-benzyl-amine. An intra-molecular Bi⋯N nonbonding inter-action is observed in the distorted trigonal triaryl-bis-muth coordination of the title compound.

An efficient and practical synthesis of triaryl and trisindolylmethanes is reported via the bisarylation of aryl aldehydes with activated arenes. The new method features mild solvent-free reaction conditions, in most cases nearly stoichiometric reagent ratios, catalytic amount of the readily available, easily-handled, recoverable and reusable Brønsted acid catalyst o-benzenedisulfonimide.

A regioselective arylation of 1,1,3-triaryl-2-azaallyl anions with aryl chlorides is described. The palladium-NIXANTPHOS-based catalyst affords diarylmethylamine derivatives in good yield and without product isomerization. A gram scale sequential one-pot ketimine synthesis/arylation protocol was also developed.

A novel 2,4,5-triaryl-substituted imidazole (IZCM-1) has been found to display distinct and specific fluorescence enhancement upon binding to parallel G-quadruplexes. Such a sensitive and topology-specific probe is able to light up without affecting the topology or thermal stability of the G-quadruplex sample. Thus, these advantages distinguish IZCM-1 from other G-quadruplex probes.
