We investigate the injectivity of this transform and show how this distinguishes the Fibonacci sequence among other recurrence sequences. In the context of transform coding of still images, the distribution of high frequency transform coefficients has been approximated by a Laplacian distribution. In this short paper, an efficient way of simulating the rate-distortion behaviour of a memoryless Laplacian source is presented. Simulation results show that the estimated behaviour very closely matches the empirical one.
